Breeze Airways announced 22 new routes and four new destinations, with an 11-route expansion making it Myrtle Beach's largest carrier.
What Breeze Announced
Breeze Airways announced Tuesday an expansion adding four new destinations — Boston, Buffalo, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — along with nearly two dozen new routes starting next spring and summer.
Eight of the new routes link the new cities to other markets in Breeze's network, and all are now on sale.
CEO David Neeleman framed the strategy in a news release: every route starts with the question of where Breeze's direct service can bring travelers a convenience they don't already enjoy, and the additions bring the airline to 95 cities.
Myrtle Beach Becomes the Centerpiece
The largest expansion is taking place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which is getting 11 new connections.
According to the Post and Courier, the move will make Breeze the largest carrier at Myrtle Beach International Airport in 2027, nearly doubling its nonstop routes from Myrtle Beach to 25 and filling much of the void left by Spirit Airlines' closure in May.
The outlet reports Breeze more than doubled its Myrtle Beach seats, routes and passengers over the past year and is projected to surpass Allegiant Air as the airport's top carrier by routes in the second quarter of 2027.
Chief Commercial Officer Lukas Johnson called it one of the biggest single-city expansions the airline has ever had, noting the market lost a lot of seats with Spirit's exit.
Why the Timing Is Surprising
The expansion stands out because other airlines are, as the Post and Courier put it, in a holding pattern for expansion under uncertain economic conditions — yet Breeze saw opportunity in a market hit hard by Spirit's departure.
The Myrtle Beach area also once was considered a driving destination, but now sees approximately 3.5 million passengers travel through its airport annually after a major expansion in 2024.
Visit Myrtle Beach president Stuart Butler said Breeze's continued investment reflects the region's strength as a destination.
The Route List and Fares
airlinegeeks.com lists the new nonstops, including Boston to Myrtle Beach daily from May 4, Albany, Burlington, Columbus, Buffalo, Latrobe, New Haven, Portland (Maine), Portsmouth, Stewart-Newburgh and Syracuse to Myrtle Beach, plus Buffalo to Charleston and Raleigh-Durham, Raleigh-Durham to Nassau, Latrobe to Orlando, and Tampa to Santo Domingo from June 18.
One-stop BreezeThru routes include Akron-Canton to Boston, Albany to Orlando, Burlington to Fort Lauderdale, Charleston (West Virginia) to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale to Stewart-Newburgh and Portsmouth to Tampa.
The Post and Courier reports promotional one-way fares from Myrtle Beach starting as low as $49 to Latrobe and $59 to Buffalo, Columbus, New Haven and Stewart-Newburgh.
Regional Airports See the Payoff
Smaller airports say the growth is already transforming their options.
WCAX reports Breeze is rolling out new destinations from Leahy Burlington International Airport — a Myrtle Beach nonstop and a BreezeThru to Fort Lauderdale — among eight destinations the airport says it added over the past three years, on track to beat last year's record fall foliage season in which it broke 160,000 passengers in a single month.
In Maine, WABI reports the new Portland–Myrtle Beach nonstop starting May 27, 2027 gives Breeze 12 nonstop destinations from the Portland International Jetport, the most of any airline there.
Burlington airport officials also teased a warm-weather international destination announcement before the end of October.
What Comes Next
With the new routes, Breeze says its network reaches 95 cities, and the Post and Courier describes it as the fastest-growing airline in the U.S. in 2026.
The first of the new services — Latrobe to Myrtle Beach — starts February 9, with the bulk launching between late May and early July 2027, giving travelers a booking window to lock in promotional fares.
For the Grand Strand, the stakes are significant: the Post and Courier notes the new flights serve both locals seeking affordable connections to underserved Northeastern cities and visitors heading to the beaches.
The airline's focus on pairing underserved Northeastern cities with Southeast vacation destinations, per Johnson, has seen great success in the Carolinas, and the expanded schedule is expected to cement Breeze's position as Myrtle Beach's largest carrier.
