Netflix is producing a Gosselin family documentary featuring Jon, Collin and Hannah Gosselin; no release date set.
Netflix confirms a Gosselin documentary is in production
Netflix announced on October 21, 2026 that production is underway on a documentary film about the Gosselin family, the reality-TV clan who spent nearly a decade onscreen on Jon & Kate Plus 8, later renamed Kate Plus 8 after the couple's 2009 divorce.
According to Netflix's Tudum announcement, the film features interviews with Jon Gosselin, Collin Gosselin and Hannah Gosselin. Netflix has not announced a release date, and the project is framed as a feature-length documentary rather than a revival of the original series.
Netflix's announcement also stops short of confirming that the original show will come to the streaming service.
Why the return of the Gosselins is a striking one
The surprise is the framing Netflix chose: rather than a nostalgia reunion, the film tackles the aftermath of the family's TV stardom, where conflicting accounts have emerged from inside the family itself.
Tudum describes the story as competing memories of the same childhood, home, and time in the spotlight, pieced together from the perspectives of the children who grew up on camera, the adults who built a brand around them, and the audience that could not look away.
That makes this less a comfort-viewing homecoming than a reckoning with what the phenomenon cost, a tone Netflix's own copy leans into rather than softens.
Only three family members are confirmed so far
The participant list is deliberately narrow. Jon, Collin and Hannah Gosselin are the only family members named in the announcement, and Totally The Bomb notes that Netflix has not confirmed whether Kate Gosselin or other relatives will take part.
The absence is notable because the series itself was built around both parents; a film told largely through Jon and two of the eight children signals which side of the family's fractured story Netflix has access to.
Who is making it, and what comes next
Mike Gasparro and Julia Willoughby Nason are producing the film for The Cinemart, the production company whose recent work includes American Murder: Gabby Petito and Death of the Pastor's Wife.
Until then, the confirmed facts are simple: production is underway, three Gosselins are talking, and Kate's involvement remains an open question.
