Billboard reports Drake's 'HABIBTI' claims his record 18th No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, passing The Temptations and Future.

What Happened: An 18th No. 1 Out of Nowhere

According to Billboard, Drake's *HABIBTI* rocketed 35-1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart dated Oct. 17 after the Oct.

2 release of its *HABIBTI (FOMO)* deluxe edition, earning 71,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the Oct. 2-8 tracking week — a 506% jump — per Luminate.

That makes it his 18th chart-topper, breaking him out of a tie with Future and The Temptations for the most No. 1s since the list launched in January 1965.

Why It's Surprising: A 60-Year Streak Ends

The surprising part is who Drake passed. Billboard notes The Temptations had held or shared the record since July 1966, when *Gettin' Ready* made them the first act with three No. 1s on the chart, and they extended it through their 17th leader, *A Song for You*, in May 1975.

Future had caught them at 17, but a deluxe-driven rebound — not a new album — is what tipped the leaderboard. Streetz 94.5 adds that *HABIBTI* climbed 114 spots, from No. 116 to No. 2, on the Billboard 200, making the surge a comeback story months after release.

The Evidence: Deluxe Cuts and Chart Sweeps

Billboard details that *HABIBTI (FOMO)* added four songs — "Solar Eclipse" with Don Toliver, "Quebec," "Cold Shoulder" with Don Toliver and Yebba, and "Classic Pt 2" — to the original 11-song track list.

The singles charts swept too: Billboard reports "Solar Eclipse" became Drake's record-extending 33rd No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Don Toliver's first, while "Quebec" started atop Hot Rap Songs for another record 33rd champ.

Streetz 94.5 reports the album has logged roughly 553,000 album-equivalent units since May, making it eligible for Gold certification under RIAA standards, though eligibility does not guarantee certification.

Self-Replacement and the Deliberate Rollout

Billboard notes *HABIBTI* debuted at No. 2 in May behind Drake's own *ICEMAN*, with the two albums released simultaneously alongside a third LP, *MAID OF HONOUR*.

Now *HABIBTI* ousts *ICEMAN* from the top slot — the first self-replacement at No. 1 on the chart since Future and Metro Boomin's *We Don't Trust You* ceded to *We Still Don't Trust You* in May 2024, per Billboard.

Streetz 94.5 frames the deluxe strategy as proof that new material can revive an album months after its initial debut.

The Stakes: A Leaderboard Reshuffled

Billboard's revised leaderboard now reads 18: Drake; 17 each: Future and The Temptations; 14: JAY-Z; 13: Ye; 12: R. Kelly; 11 each: Eminem and Lil Wayne. The Beat 92.5 and music-news.com both report that Future and The Temptations are nudged into second place, with Jay-Z following at 14.

What Comes Next: 2027 Tour and Coachella Rumors

The Beat 92.5 and music-news.com report that Drake has announced a world tour for 2027, with rumors circulating about a potential headlining slot at Coachella in April 2027. *HABIBTI* also peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and seventh on the U.K. Albums Chart, per the same reports, so the deluxe bump may extend internationally.

With "Janice STFU" already his longest-leading No.
