Dermatologist Dr. Sheila Farhang launched Dose (of) Derm, trademarking 'Clinical Color Cosmetics' with a six-in-one SPF 45 foundation.

A dermatologist trademarked a new makeup category

Dose (of) Derm has launched as what Personal Care Insights calls the first dermatologist-developed skin longevity makeup brand, created by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Sheila Farhang.

The brand debuts her trademarked category, Clinical Color Cosmetics, which the publisher reports pairs high-performance color with clinical skin care.

Its first product, the All-in-One Clinical Foundation, is described as a six-in-one formula that protects, corrects, conceals, brightens, hydrates and smooths, with buildable, long-lasting coverage and all-mineral broad spectrum SPF 45.

Farhang says patients kept asking for makeup that covered imperfections while actually doing something good for their skin.

The formula leans on a 'TriBiome Longevity Complex'

According to Personal Care Insights, the foundation's active list reads like a serum shelf: 25% zinc oxide delivers mineral SPF 45; Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3 is billed as a 'retinol-like' biomimetic peptide for firmer, smoother-looking skin; and a proprietary TriBiome Longevity Complex combines plant-derived exosomes, biomimetic peptides and microbiome-supporting postbiotics.

The publisher also lists hyaluronic acid for hydration, a vitamin C-based antioxidant against environmental stress, and Phenylethyl Resorcinol, which works with vitamin C to reduce the appearance of dark spots and uneven tone.

Why the skinification push is catching on

Personal Care Insights frames the launch as a convergence of multifunctionality and 'skinfication' trends in dermacosmetics — makeup formulated with the principles of dermatology-based skin care performance.

The move signals how far the makeup-as-skincare idea has traveled, and it is not the only place beauty is expanding beyond products: The Tribune separately reports that Dubai-born professional makeup brand Forever52 has launched an Academic by Forever52 Dubai Tour with educator Bhumika Bahl, a nationwide Indian contest whose winner gets a three-day Dubai experience, training and Forever52 certification — part of the brand's stated belief that the industry's future lies in investing in the people behind the artistry, not only product innovation.

Two more products and a waitlist next

Alongside the foundation, Personal Care Insights reports that two additional Clinical Color Cosmetics products have opened for waitlist: a Clinical Color Glossy Peptide Lip Stain, touted as buildable glossy color in a hydrating, non-drying formula said to support the lip barrier and improve the look of fine lines with continued use, and a dual-ended multi-use stick with blush on one end and contour on the other, described as a skin-first, long-wearing formula compatible with the face, eyes and lips.

If the category trademark sticks, the publisher's coverage suggests more dermatologist-fronted makeup lines could follow.
