UPS tops estimates and lifts outlook again
United Parcel Service on Tuesday reported third-quarter results that beat Wall Street expectations on both the top and bottom lines, and raised its full-year guidance for the second quarter in a row.
According to CNBC, UPS posted adjusted earnings per share of $1.69 versus the $1.63 analysts expected, and revenue of $22.9 billion against $22.29 billion expected — a 6.7% year-over-year increase.
GAAP net income came in at $1.16 billion, or $1.37 per share, down slightly from $1.31 billion, or $1.55, a year earlier, as adjusted results excluded one-time expenses. Shares rose slightly in premarket trading following the release.
Segment strength powers the beat
The quarter's upside came from broad-based segment growth rather than any single driver. CNBC reports that domestic revenue rose 4.5%, international revenue climbed 7.1%, and supply chain solutions surged 18.2%, driven primarily by growth in forwarding and logistics, including healthcare.
The strength stood out because UPS had previously told investors it expected third-quarter domestic revenue to be flat and domestic average daily volume to fall, due to seasonal declines and the deliberate glide-down of its Amazon volume.
CEO Carol Tomé said in a statement that, as momentum builds, UPS is entering the holiday shipping season from a position of strength, with the most automated and efficient network in the company's history.
Guidance raised and what it signals
UPS now projects full-year consolidated revenue of approximately $92.6 billion, up from its previous expectation of $91.2 billion, and guided to fourth-quarter revenue of $25.7 billion, according to CNBC.
Entering the peak holiday quarter with a raised outlook positions UPS's automated network to capture seasonal demand, and the $25.7 billion Q4 target gives investors a concrete benchmark for how the glide-down strategy performs under peak load.
SoFi posts record quarter and raises 2026 view
SoFi reported record consolidated net revenue of $1.4 billion, up 44% year over year, with net income of $241 million — its 12th consecutive profitable quarter — and raised its full-year guidance above analyst estimates.
CEO Anthony Noto said the results were exceptional against any backdrop, and that SoFi has transformed in less than a decade from a single-product company into an everything financial app with eight different businesses each generating over $100 million in annualized revenue.
