Goldenvoice's one-time-only Head Trip festival partners with Apple Music for a free global livestream across video and audio platforms this weekend.
A One-Weekend Festival Goes Global, Free
Head Trip, Goldenvoice's one-time-only dance festival, takes over the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on October 10 and 11 — and according to We Write About Music, fans who cannot make it to the desert can watch the entire event for free. Thanks to a major livestream partnership with Apple Music, the festival streams with no subscription required on Apple Music and Apple TV, plus Apple Music's TikTok account, the bisradio Twitch channel, and the Apple Music YouTube channel. An audio-only simulcast airs on Apple Music 1 and Apple Music Club, TuneIn, and Sirius XM. The Desert Sun confirms the streaming details, noting viewers can even have 'an epic dance party in your living room.'
A Lineup Built for Back-to-Back History
What makes the broadcast worth clearing a weekend for, per We Write About Music, is a two-day lineup that reads as a dream for electronic fans: Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, FISHER b2b Chris Lake, Peggy Gou b2b Four Tet, and Dom Dolla b2b Kettama. The Desert Sun's live coverage adds that Desert Nights, the after-party series usually tied to Coachella and Stagecoach, returns to the Zenyara estate with Ben Sterling, Seth Troxler, Monolink, Chris Lake, Dom Dolla and DJ Harvey across the weekend. Apple Music's Global Head of Dance, Electronic Music & DJ Mixes, Stephen Campbell, calls the bill 'an extraordinary line-up of artists who are shaping dance and electronic music culture right now.'
Why a Free Feed Is the Big Surprise
The surprising part, according to We Write About Music, is access: in-person passes have been in extreme demand, with The Desert Sun reporting remaining tickets at $589 for a two-day GA and shuttle combo and $899 for VIP — yet the livestream costs nothing and needs no subscription. Goldenvoice's Danny Bell frames the goal as 'bringing this one-time-only event to a global audience.' We Write About Music notes the deal continues Apple Music's festival push after EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland. The outlet also reports each night's video replay lands at 2:00 a.m. PT across Apple Music, Apple TV and TikTok, with audio replays on Apple Music Radio and TuneIn — rare replay generosity for a festival this size.
Rain, Wind and What Comes Next
The wildcard, as The Desert Sun's team on the ground reports, is weather: the National Weather Service forecasts rain beginning Saturday evening and continuing into Sunday, with Sunday gusts potentially reaching 30 mph. Meteorologist Adam Roser of the weather service's San Diego office said 'that is something that I hope festival organizers are watching,' and The Desert Sun notes Stagecoach was temporarily evacuated earlier this year amid roughly 40 mph gusts. Festival gates open at 3 p.m., with wristband registration and weather alerts via the official app. For the tens of thousands watching from home, the free Apple Music feed means even a weather-disrupted weekend can be followed set by set from anywhere.
