Lay's launches five holiday flavors Oct. 25 — Roasted Holiday Turkey to chocolate-covered Wavy chips — plus a Le Creuset sweepstakes.
What Happened: A Five-Course Holiday Table in Chip Bags
Lay's announced a limited-time "Holi-LAY'S" lineup of five flavors inspired by holiday courses, rolling out between late October and early December.
According to the brand's release, Cheddar Scalloped-Style Potatoes and Roasted Holiday Turkey chips debut nationwide October 25; Maple Bacon makes its first U.S. shelf appearance November 8; and Wavy Milk Chocolate and Wavy Dubai-Style Dark Chocolate Covered chips hit select retailers December 1, expanding into 2027.
PepsiCo Foods marketing SVP Denise Truelove says the lineup lets fans "taste the joy of the holiday season before the table has been set and after it's been cleared."
Why It's Surprising: Dessert Chips Meet Dubai Chocolate
The boldest move is the dessert wave: two varieties of real Wavy chips actually dipped in chocolate coating, per Food Network's Adam Campbell-Schmitt, who notes the Dubai-Style version rides the viral Dubai chocolate trend by pairing dark chocolate and pistachios with the brand's crunch.
A chip brand selling a dipped, sweet-and-salty confection is a genuine category stretch, and Food Network frames the turkey-and-sides concept as a snack-stunt echo of Pringles' 2017 eight-course Thanksgiving crisps.
It is a first U.S. appearance for Maple Bacon, a flavor Food Network reports is already popular in Canada.
The Evidence: A Taste Test Weighs In
Food Network's writer tasted the two flavors already in stores and reports they largely deliver. Roasted Holiday Turkey, he says, immediately smells like poultry seasoning, with thyme and sage notes plus an umami meatiness reminiscent of crisp turkey skin.
Cheddar Scalloped-Style Potatoes he calls an easier sell, since scalloped potatoes sit close to cheese-flavored chips, but he describes Parmesan plus herbs like black pepper, thyme, parsley and rosemary as a more savory, holiday-table take than plain sour cream and cheddar.
The remaining flavors are described so far only by the company's official product copy.
The Stakes: Food Is This Year's Gift
Lay's is anchoring the launch in gifting data from an online survey of 1,000 nationally representative Americans fielded by RepData for PepsiCo Foods US, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3%: 78% of consumers consider food a great holiday gift, and 55% prefer it over other gift types.
The company frames the lineup as equally suited to hosting, party-going and stocking stuffers, positioning a snack brand to compete with candles and clothes during the year's biggest gifting season.
Prizes: From Chip Bowls to Le Creuset
USA Today reports the Happy Holi-LAY'S Sweepstakes opens October 26, with entry via a code on qualifying bags or at happyholi-lays.com.
Lay's says prizes include glass and wood chip bowls, a sweater, a charcuterie set, a tile game set, a multicooker and a Lay's x Le Creuset Signature Oval Casserole — a cookware collaboration that signals how far the campaign reaches beyond the snack aisle.
The company directs fans to the website for entry information, eligibility requirements, prize details and Official Rules.
What Comes Next: A Staged Seasonal Rollout
The rollout is deliberately staggered through the season: savory side and centerpiece flavors nationwide on October 25, Maple Bacon on November 8, and chocolate-dipped varieties at select retailers from December 1 with expansion into 2027.
Food Network notes all the chip flavors are limited-time only, which pushes urgency for fans wanting the full table before it disappears. Watch whether the Dubai-Style pistachio version sustains the viral chocolate trend into 2027 or remains a seasonal curiosity.
