Air France adds thrice-weekly Paris flights to Nashville and San Diego in May 2027, with a Dolly Parton tribute flight number, while dropping Denver.
Air France maps two new U.S. dots for 2027
Air France announced it will add Nashville and San Diego to its U.S. network for summer 2027, per The Points Guy and Safari India. Flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to San Diego begin May 3, 2027, and to Nashville on May 14, both operating three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Both routes will be flown with an Airbus A350-900. Tickets go on sale October 14, 2026, according to Safari India, and the additions bring Air France's summer 2027 U.S. destination count to 20.
A flight number honoring Dolly Parton
The Nashville route carries a distinctly Music City flourish: Air France assigned it flight number AF046, a nod to 1946, the birth year of country icon Dolly Parton, as The Points Guy, Safari India and Hoodline all report. Hoodline notes the 4,372-mile route is scheduled to depart Paris at 2:10 p.m. and Nashville at 6:55 p.m., while Safari India lists Paris-San Diego flights departing 10:10 a.m. and San Diego-Paris at 3:10 p.m. According to Safari India, Air France says it will be the only carrier flying Nashville nonstop from continental Europe.
Au revoir, Denver: capacity reshuffled
The growth is not uniform. The Points Guy reports Air France will not return to Denver in 2027 — its seasonal Denver flights, which began in 2021, end October 10 — with a spokesperson saying the capacity will be reallocated to other routes with "no overall reduction in capacity across the region." One Mile at a Time speculates the new routes are partly how those planes are being redeployed, and argues the move makes competitive sense given United's dominance in Denver, where United will launch daily Denver-Paris 787-9 flights on May 27, 2027.
Why Nashville and San Diego are surprising picks
Both cities are already crowded with transatlantic service, making non-hub expansion notable. According to Hoodline, Sabre Market Intelligence data cited by Aviation Week shows roughly 568,900 round-trip passengers flew Nashville-Europe in 2025, up 22.4% year over year, with Paris already BNA's fourth-largest European market at about 33,600 passengers. One Mile at a Time notes Nashville already has Aer Lingus and British Airways service, while San Diego hosts British Airways, KLM and Lufthansa — meaning all three transatlantic joint ventures will be represented there, with SkyTeam the first to field two carriers.
The stakes: joint-venture expansion and BNA's record run
The routes strengthen the Delta-led transatlantic joint venture: The Points Guy reports Delta, Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic coordinate schedules and fares across the Atlantic, with Delta itself planning at least three new Europe routes in 2027, including Austin-Paris from March 27. Hoodline adds that Nashville International handled a record 26.7 million passengers in fiscal 2026 and is midway through a $3 billion "New Horizon" expansion, including a new 16-gate Concourse A replacement expected by 2028 — infrastructure aimed at making BNA a genuine international gateway.
What comes next
Travelers can watch for tickets to both routes on sale from October 14, 2026, per Safari India, with the San Diego service starting May 3, 2027, and Nashville following on May 14. One Mile at a Time frames these as the first regularly scheduled, consistent Air France flights to either city, opening one-stop connections from Nashville and San Diego onward to Europe, Africa, India and the Middle East via Paris. Whether demand holds in two markets already served by rival alliances will decide if the A350s stay — and whether Air France keeps pushing into mid-sized U.S. cities.
