Attack on Titan returns in 2027 as a musical world tour, alongside a Transformers Animated comic revival.

Attack on Titan Comes Back — as a Stage Musical

According to LevelUp, Shingeki no Kyojin will return in 2027, but not with an anime sequel or new manga chapters. On October 13, details were revealed about the first world tour of Attack on Titan: The Musical, a live stage production recreating iconic scenes from the Wit Studio and MAPPA anime.

The first stop is Singapore, with performances from April 15 to May 2, 2027 at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands.

Creator Hajime Isayama shared a message celebrating the announcement, saying he was 'incredibly excited that this musical is going on a world tour' and that he found the musical a perfect medium for telling the story after seeing it in person.

A Revival Fans Didn't Ask For — Or Did They?

What makes the announcement a genuine surprise, per LevelUp, is the form it takes. More than five years have passed since the manga ended, and its finale famously left a sour taste in some fans' mouths.

LevelUp frames the return as aimed squarely at people who love the anime's soundtrack, featuring singing, dancing and action sequences, with music collaboration from Linked Horizon, the group behind some of the anime's most iconic songs.

The show covers only the early events of the anime: the destruction of Wall Maria through Eren's journey in the military to the Battle of Trost. Performances run about two hours, entirely in Japanese with English subtitles.

Transformers Animated Also Refuses to Die in 2027

The Titan isn't alone in coming back from a finished ending. TFormers reports that Transformers Animated, which ended nearly 20 years ago, is getting its unproduced fourth season as an ongoing indie comic book series launching in 2027.

Original head writer Marty Isenberg and lead toy designer Eric Siebenaler are teaming up with Keyan Carlile, who says he is using his platform to give them the means to tell the story.

Carlile says he and Isenberg have been co-writing Season 4 all year with a team of artists, aiming to give the series a satisfying, definitive conclusion in honor of the late Derrick J. Wyatt.

More details arrive in Mirror, Mirror #4, the final issue of the Shattered Glass miniseries out later this month.

Stakes, Tickets, and What Comes Next

Both projects show franchises extending life well past their official endings, though neither promises the continuations some fans hoped for.

For Attack on Titan, LevelUp notes the show premiered in Japan in early 2023 and played New York City Center in October 2024, so the world tour is the new milestone. Tickets in Singapore range from 58 to 188 Singapore dollars, with VIP packages available.

Yukia Takano plays Eren Yeager, Yui Soma plays Mikasa Ackerman, and Misora Shimomura plays Armin Arlert. Remaining tour cities and dates are unrevealed, so Latin American stops remain unknown.

For Transformers, the 2027 rollout timing has yet to be detailed beyond the launch window.
