NBC has confirmed influencer Druski will host SNL on November 7, the first digital content creator ever to headline the late-night sketch show.
What happened: the November lineup lands
Saturday Night Live has confirmed its next three hosts and musical guests for Season 52.
Per Variety, the show returns October 31 with 'Obsession' star Inde Navarrette hosting the Halloween episode with Gracie Abrams as musical guest, followed on November 7 by Druski with The Strokes, and on November 14 by John Mulaney with Phoebe Bridgers. ET on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
Why it's surprising: a first for Studio 8H
The headline development inside the niche is Druski's booking.
TVLine reports that NBC has confirmed the comedian and content creator — who rose to fame with comedy videos on Instagram — will host the November 7 episode, making him the first-ever digital content creator to headline the long-running sketch show, as Variety also reports.
KTLO frames the same first, noting Druski will be welcomed into Studio 8H as the first content creator ever to host. For a series that has spent five decades drawing its hosts from film, TV and stand-up, opening the door to an influencer is a genuine break from pattern.
The evidence outlets cite
According to AOL, Druski — whose real name is Drew Desbordes — is known for his sketch comedy series Coulda Been Records, and has appeared in 'House Party' (2023), 'Praise This' (2023) and 'Grown-ish' (2024), and hosted the BET Awards in June.
TVLine reports his hosting stint was first reported last week before NBC confirmed it.
Deadline adds that Druski will promote 'Collect and Praise,' his scripted Netflix comedy series premiering in December, while The Strokes join him for their fifth SNL appearance, touring in support of their album 'Reality Awaits.'
Mulaney's seventh turn and a Halloween debut
The surrounding bookings give the Druski first its context. Per Variety, John Mulaney hosts November 14 — his seventh time, after writing on the show from 2008 to 2012 — still far from Alec Baldwin's record of 17 hosting stints.
AOL notes Mulaney co-created the iconic Stefon character with Bill Hader and has joined the Five-Timers Club.
Meanwhile, KTLO reports Navarrette's October 31 episode marks her SNL debut and the first time in six years the show has aired live on Halloween night; Bleeding Cool quotes her saying she feels like she 'snuck in' and wants to keep the material under wraps.
The stakes: SNL courts the internet's audience
The Druski booking signals, as TVLine puts it, that SNL is 'officially turning to social media for hosting ideas' — a recognition that audiences built on Instagram skits can now carry a live broadcast.
The show arrives at the booking amid turbulence: Deadline reports SNL's return follows major backlash to Shane Gillis's October 10 monologue, and Bleeding Cool reports SNL UK's Weekend Update anchor Ania Magliano mocked Gillis live on air over the joke and an f-bomb.
What comes next
The schedule is set: Halloween night on October 31 brings Navarrette and Abrams, November 7 brings Druski and The Strokes, and November 14 closes the three-week run with Mulaney and Phoebe Bridgers — her third appearance per Variety, supporting her recent album 'Lost Weekend.'
Variety adds Mulaney is currently on his 'Mister Whatever' stand-up tour and appears in the upcoming Prime Video film 'Madden.'
