al.com reports that Streameast was an illegal streaming service that let fans watch college football for free, and that it shut down last year, sending fans hunting for alternatives. The answer its readers landed on: legitimate live TV services that hand out five-day free trials. The pattern shows how a shutdown of a piracy site redirected demand straight into the trial funnels of paid streamers.

It is striking how completely the free trial now covers a Saturday. al.com lays out a full week 6 lineup — No. 1 Texas vs. Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC, No. 13 Oregon vs. No. 21 UCLA at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS, and No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 6 Alabama at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC — all watchable inside a trial window. According to nj.com, DIRECTV and Fubo both offer five-day trials, meaning one sign-up can span kickoff to the final whistle without a dime spent.

Land-Grant Holy Land, whose writer describes himself as someone who writes about streaming services for a living, recommends DIRECTV MySports as the best all-around option: it normally costs $64.99 per month, but a current deal takes $20 off each of the first six months, bringing the whole season to about $45 per month, with a five-day free trial and ESPN Unlimited included at no extra cost. Land-Grant Holy Land also details alternatives: YouTube TV at $82.99 per month, Sling TV day passes from $5 to $20, Fubo at $84.99 per month, and Fox One at $19.99 with a seven-day free trial.

The matchups this weekend give the trials real urgency. nj.com notes today's Texas-Oklahoma game is the 122nd meeting in the rivalry, the 90th straight year it will be played at the Cotton Bowl, with the Longhorns leading the series 65-51-5 after winning last year's game 23-6. al.com frames Georgia-Alabama as the marquee 6:30 p.m. CT game on ABC. When games that big air across ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and ESPN channels, nj.com's write-up argues, a service that bundles the broadcast networks becomes the simplest legal route.

goal.com applies the identical strategy to soccer, reporting that Fubo offers a five-day free trial carrying Telemundo and Universo for today's USWNT vs. Spain friendly at Audi Field in Washington, DC, with DIRECTV Stream also offering a five-day trial. goal.com adds that because the match airs on broadcast networks, a standard digital TV antenna gets it 100% free, and it lists Telemundo channel numbers for the ten largest US markets. The lesson across outlets is consistent: trial windows are now the default on-ramp for live sports.

Every outlet in this pack flags the same catch: the trials convert to paid plans automatically. al.com's write-up of the DIRECTV and Fubo trials, nj.com's note that Fubo starts at $64.99 per month after five days, and goal.com's reminder to cancel before the trial period ends all point to the same fine print. Land-Grant Holy Land's streaming guide even warns that YouTube TV's trial length varies from two to 21 days and you do not know which until sign-up. For fans, the week's ritual is now sign up, watch, cancel, repeat.
