Unranked Florida stunned No. 7 Texas 27-24 in Austin on a late strip-sack of Arch Manning, ending a 22-game home win streak versus unranked teams.

What happened: Gators rally, Manning fumbles it away

Texas led 17-3 midway through the second quarter after Ryan Niblett's punt-return touchdown, then watched Florida score 24 straight points to steal a 27-24 upset at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.

With 1:58 left, Gators defender Kanye Clark recovered a strip-sack fumble by Arch Manning on Texas's final drive to seal the win.

ESPN reports Florida backup quarterback Tramell Jones Jr., making his first career start, went 22-of-35 for 155 yards and two touchdowns while adding 10 carries for 41 yards.

Why it is stunning: from No. 1 to historic in 14 days

Two weeks ago Texas was a national championship favorite ranked No. 1 in the AP poll.

According to ESPN Research, the Longhorns became just the third team since 1936 to reach No. 1 and then lose consecutive games to unranked opponents, after last week's walk-off loss to Oklahoma cost them the top spot.

The defeat also ended Texas's 22-game home winning streak against unranked teams, and ESPN Research says it was the Longhorns' largest blown lead at home versus an unranked team since 1965 against Rice.

Florida entered on a two-game skid, missing starting quarterback Aaron Philo and top receiver Vernell Brown III, and had lost 45 straight games when trailing a top-25 opponent by at least a touchdown at halftime.

The evidence: 50 offensive snaps and a sputtering offense

The numbers behind the collapse are damning for the Texas offense. ESPN reports the Longhorns ran only 50 offensive plays, their fewest since Steve Sarkisian arrived at the program.

Per Fox News (Outkick), the 50 snaps were the lowest total of Sarkisian's tenure, and Florida's pass defense ranked in the 100s statistically — the supposed 'get right' game Manning never got. Outside of a 62-yard strike on 4th-and-7 late, AOL reports Manning had just over 100 passing yards.

Criticism mounts: 'a bad football player'

Yahoo Sports reports analysts and former players lined up against Manning after the loss, with some questioning whether he is even an NFL prospect.

Former LSU and NFL defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko wrote that if Manning is drafted in the first five rounds the NFL is 'a nepo baby system' and called him 'a bad football player.'

Former NFL quarterback Sean Salisbury said Manning passes up too many open, simple completions playing hero ball, with his eyes in the wrong place.

Bleacher Report's Adam Kramer argued Manning's Texas run 'should be nearing an end,' while OutKick's Jon Root says he needs a third year in Austin, and Fox Sports Radio's Aaron Torres even floated a portal meeting with Bryce Underwood.

Sarkisian under fire: 'evaluate everything'

Sarkisian refused to rule out a quarterback change, saying 'everything's going to be evaluated' and 'everything means everything,' while cautioning that 'nobody was perfect on offense today.' Because Sarkisian also calls Texas's plays, ESPN reports his own playcalling is part of the review.

AOL notes many pundits had him on the hot seat before the season, and that missing the College Football Playoff two years in a row could be unacceptable for a roster this talented — another loss would likely end the CFP hopes outright.

What's next: top-ten Ole Miss visits Austin

Manning, for his part, told ESPN the evaluation talk did not catch him off guard: 'Everyone's evaluated every week... with elite players, everyone's got to get better.'

Sarkisian also said he did not know the extent of a lower leg injury to star pass rusher Colin Simmons, who had eight tackles, four for loss and a sack before leaving in the third quarter.

'We've got a better team than we are right now,' Sarkisian said, per ESPN — whether that team exists will be tested immediately.
