FKA twigs voided the NDA provisions in her settlement with Shia LaBeouf, and Mia Goth filed for divorce just one day later.
The Deal That Didn't Hold
The central development is a settlement reversal. On July 22, 2025, Rolling Stone reported that FKA twigs' lawyer moved to dismiss her 2020 lawsuit after she and Shia LaBeouf reached a private settlement, confirmed in a joint statement from both parties' lawyers. But per today.com, twigs sued LaBeouf again in March, arguing that nondisclosure provisions in the settlement illegally silenced her under California law. That second suit broke the private deal open. The surprise is that the negotiated resolution — the kind of quiet exit most defendants expect — came undone entirely.
Monday's Filing, Tuesday's Divorce
According to today.com, twigs moved to dismiss the second lawsuit on Monday, citing court documents showing LaBeouf had agreed to void the NDA provisions. The day after she moved to dismiss, Mia Goth filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Yahoo reports Goth listed the date of separation as July 28, 2025 — six days after the private settlement of the first case was confirmed. That chronology ties the divorce filing's stated separation date directly to the litigation timeline.
The Evidence in the Filing
USA TODAY reports that Goth, 32, filed a petition for dissolution of marriage on Tuesday, October 6, citing irreconcilable differences, seeking primary legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter Isabel with visitation for LaBeouf, 39, and asking the court to terminate spousal support for both parties with each covering their own attorney fees. Per Yahoo, the couple met in 2012, married in 2016, split in 2018, reconciled by 2020 and welcomed Isabel in 2022 — an on-and-off history that made this filing the definitive end.
Why the Timeline Raises Eyebrows
The striking claim, per Yahoo, is that Goth's listed separation date of July 28, 2025 fell just days after confirmation that LaBeouf would privately settle twigs' case alleging sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress. Yahoo frames the divorce filing's separation date as possibly linked to the abuse allegations against LaBeouf. In twigs' suit, per the same report, she alleged LaBeouf violently attempted to strangle her during a February 2019 gas station incident — allegations LaBeouf initially apologized for in an email to the New York Times and later denied in his complaint response.
LaBeouf's Own Words
LaBeouf's public statements form the admission side of the record. Per Yahoo, he told "Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan" in March 2026: "We were deeply unhappy. I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way." USA TODAY adds that he was arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras after a bar fight, released on $100,000 bond with ordered treatment and weekly drug tests, and pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor simple battery counts in June, drawing a six-month suspended sentence and two years' probation.
What Comes Next
The remaining open questions are custody and the terms of the revised settlement. today.com notes LaBeouf, now 40, had earlier split publicly in 2018 after twigs were spotted together in London — a rep then called the separation amicable. With the NDA provisions voided, twigs can discuss her case publicly again, and the divorce proceedings in Los Angeles Superior Court over Isabel's custody will now define the final chapter.
