SEVENTEEN's Jeonghan and Joshua reportedly sold 656,011 copies of 'DREAMSCAPE' on day one, per Hanteo figures cited by Maeil Business.
A Record Straight Out of the Gate
SEVENTEEN's JEONGHAN X JOSHUA — billed as the duo JxJ — topped the daily album chart on the very day of their comeback.
According to Maeil Business, citing Hanteo Chart, the duo's first mini album 'DREAMSCAPE' sold 656,011 copies on its first day of release on the 19th, landing at No. 1 on the daily album chart.
Why a Unit Record Matters Now
The timing is remarkable because military service has thinned SEVENTEEN's active lineup.
As Variety explains in an exclusive interview, six members are currently serving, Seungkwan and Dino enlist together on October 26, and Jeonghan only completed his mandatory service this summer — making 'DREAMSCAPE' his first new music since.
That leaves five active members, and JxJ is the group's seventh unit.
The Duo Sound: Between Strong and Subtle
Variety reports the pair initially disagreed on direction — Joshua describes Jeonghan wanting a stronger side and himself wanting a subtle, mature one, until they 'met at the middle' on the title track '12 O'Clock,' a dance-rock song built on '70s and '80s disco and funk.
Per Variety, the seven-track album runs from the house song 'Like You' through R&B and soul to the raw band sound of 'No Looking Back,' with Joshua co-writing and co-composing his alternative-rock solo 'Not Personal' and Jeonghan co-writing lyrics for his electro-house solo 'Coloring.'
Global Charts and What Comes Next
According to Maeil Business, the overseas response was immediate: 'DREAMSCAPE' topped QQ Music's overall daily 'Digital Bestselling Albums' chart in China, reached No. 1 on LINE MUSIC's real-time 'Album Top 100' in Japan, swept iTunes 'Top Albums' charts in six countries and regions, and ranked No. 6 on 'Worldwide Albums.'
Promotions begin in earnest with Mnet's 'M Countdown' on the 22nd, and Variety reports a tour will follow the album's promotions. Jeonghan tells Variety he sees the duo as having 'something new to bring to the table' beyond one album.
