Bureau of Prisons inmate records reviewed by USA TODAY now list Sean "Diddy" Combs' projected release as March 2, 2028 — about six weeks later than the Jan. 21, 2028 date on the books just days earlier. The Los Angeles Times, Page Six, E! News and New York Daily News all cite the same updated database. The BOP says it does not discuss release plans or conditions of confinement for any individual.

The reversal came right after a Sept. 29 NBC News report — described by the Los Angeles Times and Page Six — in which four anonymous inmates alleged Combs paid fellow prisoners to cook him curry chicken, pizza and empanadas, clean his toilet and shower before he used them, do laundry, and give him Chinese-style massages. Sources told NBC the mogul spends thousands of dollars a month, with outside associates topping up inmates' commissary accounts. According to the Daily News, he was moved into the Special Housing Unit — solitary confinement — shortly after the report, which sources told TMZ is standard during an investigation. "This is not some normal s— you see in jail. This is some rich s—," one inmate told NBC.

In a fresh twist, USA TODAY's syndicated report says Mike Tyson told SiriusXM's "Andy Cohen Live" on Oct. 8 that Combs asked him to pass a letter to the president — and that he "did what he told me to do." Tyson also voiced surprise at the prosecution, saying "they used a 110-year-old rule to get him," a reference to the 1910 Mann Act underpinning Combs' conviction. According to the report, President Trump said in January he had received a pardon request letter from Combs and would not grant it. Tyson also revealed he had spoken with Combs once by phone during the incarceration.

No one has confirmed why the date moved. The Bureau of Prisons told multiple outlets it does not comment on conditions or the reasons for date changes, which generally include conduct, time credits from approved programs, and credit for time served. USA TODAY notes the date has swung both directions — pushed back to June 2028 in November, then shortened repeatedly for good behavior, per the Daily News. A rep for Combs told Female First the team is "never given any explanation for how the BOP calculates or adjusts projected release dates," adding that Sean remains focused on his appeal and on family when he returns home.

Even at March 2, 2028, Combs gets out earlier than the original mid-2028 date, but the latest adjustment means more time behind bars after reports of solitary housing at Fort Dix. USA TODAY notes his legal team is still appealing the mixed verdict — acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, convicted on the two prostitution-transport counts involving Cassie Ventura Fine and "Jane" — and that he still faces upward of 70 civil lawsuits nationwide. At sentencing he told the court, per E! News, that he had gotten sober for the first time in 25 years and started a mentorship program; a rep told Female First he awaits the appeal decision. Expect the date to keep moving either way.
