Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on October 15, revealing Justice as the game's composers and a November 19 release.

The Trailer That Finally Sets the Date

Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on October 15, 2026, putting the long-delayed sequel on the final stretch toward its November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The trailer caps a rocky run to launch that has included multiple delays, leaked gameplay footage and a so-called 'digital release' controversy, according to OutKick.

CNET reports the trailer centers on Jason, a former soldier who admits he 'got into some trouble' and says lenders 'don't give loans to people like me,' before a call from fellow central character Lucia kicks off the story.

CNET argues the trailer captures a feeling earlier GTA games never quite reached and suggests a more somber story than the typical smash-and-bash formula.

Justice Scores GTA VI — With an Unlikely Trio

Rockstar has confirmed that the French electronic duo Justice composed the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI, according to Pitchfork.

Their contribution, 'Flower in a Hurricane,' debuts in the launch trailer and pairs Justice with an unlikely trifecta of Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard — a combination Pitchfork itself calls 'bonkers.'

The duo arrive off 2024's Hyperdrama, whose Tame Impala team-up 'Neverender' won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2025.

The last GTA score, back in 2013, was a collaboration between the Alchemist, Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson and Oh No, mixed by DJ Shadow, per Pitchfork — making this a striking handoff.

The trailer itself is the story's centerpiece: Rockstar debuted 'Flower in a Hurricane' directly in the footage, and CNET describes the track as dynamic and sad, hinting that Jason and Lucia's story won't play as a typical crime romp.

Fans have been waiting since December 2023, when Trailer 1 first appeared; Rockstar's own site lists the full run-up — Trailer 1 in December 2023, Trailer 2 in May 2025, an Extended Look in August 2026 and now the Launch Trailer.

CNET says the wait looks worth it, and that the trailer has even open-world-first players genuinely curious what happens to the two leads.

A $1 Billion Sick-Day Economy

The launch is shaping up as an economic event as much as a gaming one. OutKick reports that experts predict the US economy will take a roughly $1 billion hit on release day, as so many workers have already lined up sick days for November 19 and 20 that the planning itself is making national news.

OutKick argues no prior release — not Halo, not Call of Duty — has disrupted the workforce this way, and the game is still a month out.

Rockstar is leaning in: OutKick reports the Miami Heat will wear special Vice City-themed jerseys on a unique court for a game against the Milwaukee Bucks the night before launch, turning Miami — the real-world stand-in for Vice City — into a billboard for the game.

A 34-Track Soundtrack and Radio Takeover

Beyond the score, the game's soundscape is rolling out slowly ahead of launch.

Pitchfork reports the GTA VI soundtrack spans 34 tracks and will be released alongside the game on November 19, with nine songs already out, including contributions from Yung Lean, Travis Scott and Cardi B. Rockstar has also unveiled the in-game radio DJs, per Pitchfork: players will tune in to Bad Bunny's Cocoteo FM, Robyn's Flash FM, Lana Del Rey's Back Country Radio and more.

What Comes Next Before November 19

The road to launch remains eventful. CNET's recent coverage notes a nude-character leak tied to a crypto scheme, reports blaming GTA 6 for PlayStation Pro 5 shortages, and a report suggesting a PC port could arrive in early 2027.

OutKick cautions that over a decade of development created expectations Rockstar may struggle to meet, but predicts that for about 24 hours in late November the world will come to a screeching halt.
