Instinct Jumps From $2.5B to $10B in 30 Days

Sequoia, Benchmark and Coatue put $1 billion into personal AI agent startup Instinct at a $10 billion valuation, quadrupling its price in a month.

The round that reset the price in a month

Instinct, the personal AI agent startup, has closed a $1 billion Series C from Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Coatue at a $10 billion valuation, according to The Tech Portal. The Tech Portal reports the round came roughly 30 days after Index Ventures and Benchmark co-led a $250 million Series B at $2.5 billion on August 26 — a fourfold markup in a single month. Total funding now exceeds $1.3 billion, and the entire arc from a roughly $50 million seed backed by Conviction and Greenoaks to $10 billion has played out in under a year, with Kleiner Perkins' $75 million Series A at $500 million landing in early August.

A $10 billion bet on 14 people and an invite list

What makes the price tag startling is what has not happened yet. The Tech Portal notes the $10 billion valuation rests on a product with no published metrics, no mobile app and a headcount of 14 — a statement about investor risk appetite in the personal AI agent category rather than disclosed traction. The company is still in invite-only early access, and founder Noah Shinn is 23 years old. SiliconANGLE identifies the company officially as Spear Street Technology Inc. and says the funding follows its $250 million round just a month earlier.

What the agent actually does

Instinct communicates with users over SMS — there is no mobile app yet — and is positioned for everyday personal tasks rather than enterprise workflows, from planning road trips to ordering groceries and canceling subscriptions, per SiliconANGLE. It runs on a computer-use paradigm, operating its own virtual phone and computer to load web pages and apps the way a human assistant would. The company says agents can coordinate with each other on behalf of trusted friends through what it calls a Trusted Person Network, sharing files, images and schedules. Alongside the funding, The Tech Portal reports Instinct announced an active detection system, a hallucination filter that strips subtle errors before any action is executed — though only broader availability will show whether it works.

Meta Muse is already at the door

The competitive backdrop makes the raise a bet on depth over distribution. The Tech Portal reports Meta's Muse launched September 8, crossed 3.4 million downloads in three weeks and is announcing commerce partnerships with Shopify, PayPal, Instacart and Expedia — a far larger footprint than an invite-only SMS product can match soon. SiliconANGLE adds that Instinct faces a field of roughly a dozen prominent agent products, including agentic versions of ChatGPT, Grok and Apple's rebuilt Siri AI, plus startup rivals Wajo, Ollie and Poke, and is testing its own white-glove phone concierge for reservations, appointments and bills.

One day, four huge AI checks

The frenzy is not isolated. Wowtale reports gas-turbine startup Parallax exited stealth with $117 million raised to fix AI data centers' power bottleneck, targeting deliveries in 2028. CNA reports EliseAI, which automates housing and healthcare workflows, hit a $4 billion valuation on a $350 million round led by Andreessen Horowitz and Bessemer Venture Partners, after passing $200 million in annual recurring revenue in June. Indian Startup News reports physical AI chipmaker sima.ai raised $150 million at a $1.45 billion valuation, co-led by Fidelity and Amplify. Investors are funding every layer of the AI stack at once — from turbines to silicon to agents.

What comes next for Instinct

The next test is availability. Instinct's valuation now sits in the same conversation as Cognition, the AI coding agent The Tech Portal says is valued at $48 billion — a comparison that signals how aggressively capital is chasing the personal AI layer. Shinn says the funding helps bring Instinct to more people and continue building the future of personal AI, but the company's claims about reliable task execution will only be validated once the invite list widens and the agent operates at scale. With Meta, Apple and OpenAI all contesting the same layer, a $10 billion price on a 14-person team is a race statement: investors are paying up now, before distribution is decided.
