Richard Greenberg's 'Three Days of Rain' revival opens at the Longacre Theatre March 1, 2027, for 16 weeks, starring Arnaud, Corenswet and Strahovski.
What Was Announced
Producer David Binder's Broadway revival of Richard Greenberg's Pulitzer Prize finalist play *Three Days of Rain* will begin performances Saturday, January 30, 2027, and officially open Monday, March 1, 2027 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) for a strictly limited 16-week engagement.
The Shubert Organization's announcement confirms the venue and dates, with tickets on sale soon via threedaysofrain.com.
Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro (*August: Osage County*, *Eureka Day*) directs the production, which is co-produced by Jayne Baron Sherman, with 101 Productions, Ltd. as executive producer and general manager alongside Christopher Taggart, and casting by Caparelliotis Casting.
A Starry, Stage-Returning Cast
The revival assembles one of spring 2027's most high-profile casts, according to Deadline: François Arnaud, fresh off television's *Heated Rivalry*; David Corenswet, star of the *Superman* franchise; and Yvonne Strahovski, a two-time Emmy nominee for *The Handmaid's Tale*.
Playbill reports the role breakdown: Arnaud plays Pip and Theo, Corenswet plays Walker and Ned, and Strahovski plays Nan and Lina.
A Posthumous Greenberg on Broadway
The most poignant wrinkle a devoted theatergoer will notice: per the Shubert Organization's press release, Richard Greenberg passed away due to cancer last year after a decades-long career of more than 30 produced plays.
Greenberg won the Tony for Best Play for *Take Me Out* and was a Pulitzer finalist for *Three Days of Rain* itself, which earned the L.A. Drama Critics Award and Olivier, Drama Desk and Hull-Warriner nominations.
This revival marks the play's first Broadway return since the brief 2006 run at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre that starred Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper — Julia Roberts' Broadway debut, as newyorktheater.me notes.
The Design Team Reunion
The full creative team, newly revealed by Broadway News and the Shubert Organization, reads like a Tony ballot in itself: scenic design by Tony winner Todd Rosenthal (*Purpose*), costume design by Tony nominee Arianne Phillips (*Hedwig and the Angry Inch*), lighting design by Tony winner Donald Holder (*Ragtime*), sound design by Tony nominee Justin Ellington (*Joe Turner's Come and Gone*), and wig and hair design by Luc Verschueren for Campbell Young Associates (*Chess*), with Gigi Buffington (*Liberation*) as voice and text coach.
Playbill points out a meaningful history: Shapiro is reuniting with Rosenthal after their earlier *Three Days of Rain* staging at Chicago's Steppenwolf.
Why This Revival Matters
The play itself is the hook: a sharply funny two-act mystery about inheritance, in which siblings Walker and Nan reunite with childhood friend Pip in the downtown loft where their architect fathers designed the house that made them famous — and a cryptic journal and startling will leave them asking who their parents were before they became parents.
Press quoted in the Shubert release call it "world class" (Los Angeles Times), an "engrossing puzzle in two acts" (The New York Times), and "moving, provocative and deeply funny" (New York Magazine).
Shapiro has said it is "truly one of the most beautiful plays I've ever done or experienced," framing the drama as two generations of New York intelligentsia navigating family, art and love.
What Comes Next
The engagement runs through its strictly limited 16 weeks following the March 1, 2027 opening, positioning it among spring's starriest arrivals as Deadline put it.
Ticket sale information is still forthcoming, with Playbill directing fans to the show's website for updates, and the Shubert Organization inviting sign-ups at threedaysofrain.com.
For Broadway watchers, the production also lands amid a crowded 2026–2027 slate that newyorktheater.me's weekly roundup charts, alongside arrivals like *Dirty Dancing: The Musical* at the Lena Horne (February 12–September 5) and the Dolly Parton musical opening January 19 at the St. James.
