Delete your ShareDot account
You can delete your ShareDot account and its data in the app or here on the web. You don’t need to reinstall the app.
In the ShareDot app
Go to Profile, then Delete account. Type your handle and confirm with your passkey.
On the web
Sign in with your passkey, type your handle, and confirm with your passkey again.
What happens
- Right away, you’re signed out on every device, and your profile, pages and saves are hidden from everyone.
- For 30 days you can change your mind: sign in and choose Keep my account, and everything comes back as it was.
- After 30 days, ShareDot deletes your account and its data: your profile, handle, pages, saves and settings, and the services you connected. We remove our access to them, such as the Gmail forwarding ShareDot set up.
- If notifications are on, we tell you when it’s done.
What we keep, and for how long
- A record that the account was deleted, with its internal ID and the dates but none of your content, so it can’t come back by mistake. The record of your request is kept for 24 months.
- Your handle is held for 90 days after deletion, so no one else can take it straight away.
- Messages you sent to other people in group conversations stay in their conversations, no longer linked to you.
- Copies can stay in server logs and backups for a limited time, until they’re replaced.
Your passkey stays in your password manager until you remove it there.
