Privacy Policy
Last updated October 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information ShareDot, Inc. (“ShareDot”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects when you use the ShareDot app for iOS and Android and the website at sharedot.com (together, the “Services”), how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You sign in with a passkey. We don’t ask for your email address, phone number or a password.
- We collect what you give us (your handle, your profile and what you save), plus some technical information to keep ShareDot running and secure.
- Your agent uses AI services from other companies to read what you save. The Third-party AI section says what they receive.
- Your profile at sharedot.com/@handle is public. Your saves are private unless you choose otherwise.
- We don’t sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
- You can download your data and delete your account in the app at any time.
What we collect
Your account
- Your handle and display name.
- Your passkey’s public key and ID. The passkey itself stays on your device or in your password manager, and Face ID and Touch ID data never leave your device. We never receive either.
- Sign-in records: the IP address, device name and type, and app or browser details of each device you sign in on, and when.
Your profile
- Your name, bio, location (as you type it; we don’t use your device’s location), interests, profile photo and cover photo. Your profile is public: see Who can see your information.
What you save
- Links you save, by pasting them into ShareDot or sharing them to it from another app, and what we find on those pages: their title, description, image, creator, dates, place, price and topics. We fetch a page to read it, but we don’t keep the page itself.
- Photos and screenshots you save. We keep a copy, resized and with its metadata (such as where it was taken) removed, and what your agent read from it, such as a title, a caption, an event time, a price or a place name. Other text your agent reads from the image isn’t kept.
- Your choices for each save: what your agent should do with it, who can see it and how long to keep it.
- Your phone’s time zone, so event times and reminders are right.
- The pages your agent makes from your saves.
Don’t save anything you wouldn’t want your agent, and the AI services it uses, to read, such as passwords, financial account numbers or health information.
Notifications
- If you turn on notifications: a push token, your device’s platform and an identifier for your device, so we can deliver them. Notifications can include the titles of your saves and pages, and reminder times and places.
What the app reads on your phone
- Your clipboard, only when you tap Paste.
- Photos you pick for your profile, through the system photo picker. The app sees only the photos you pick.
- Nothing else: the app doesn’t use your location, contacts, camera or microphone, or your device’s advertising identifier.
Technical information
- Our sign-in service records the IP address and account of each request, to protect accounts and fix problems. Our other servers use your IP address only briefly, to limit abuse, and don’t record it.
- The app has no analytics or advertising tools. If it hits an error, the details are logged on your phone, not sent to us.
- The website doesn’t use analytics or set its own cookies. Some content on it comes from other companies, such as YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music players and maps. They may set cookies or see your IP address when it loads, under their own privacy policies.
How we use it
- To run ShareDot: create and secure your account, read what you save, decide what to do with it, make your pages, remind you, and show your profile.
- To send the notifications you turned on.
- To keep ShareDot safe and working: prevent abuse and fraud, protect accounts, and find and fix problems.
- To follow the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
We don’t sell your personal information, use it to show you ads, or share it with data brokers.
Third-party AI
Your agent is built on AI services from other companies. When it reads what you save, we send them what they need for that task, and they send back what they found:
- When you save a link, we may send an AI model the details we found on the page (such as its title, description, creator, date and topics), with the titles of some of your pages and recent saves, so it can decide what to do with it. We don’t send the link itself, your handle or your name.
- When you save a photo or screenshot, we send the image to an AI model, which reads it.
- When you add a profile or cover photo, we may send it to Google’s Gemini service, which describes it.
These services are OpenRouter, which passes our requests to AI model providers such as Z.ai and Google, and Google’s Gemini service. They process this information to give us results, under their own terms. You agree to this when you create your account. Because your agent can’t work without them, you can withdraw that agreement by deleting your account.
Who we share it with
We share your information only as this policy describes:
- AI services, as described above.
- Companies that run parts of ShareDot for us: Cloudflare (our website, file storage and image delivery), Amazon Web Services (our servers and encryption keys), and Expo, Apple and Google (to deliver notifications).
- Services that help read your saves. We fetch the pages you save ourselves, and for some kinds of link we ask the service directly, such as YouTube, Spotify and arXiv, or a mirror service (fxtwitter.com) for posts on X.
- The sites your saves come from: the app loads preview images straight from them, so they can see your IP address.
- Anyone, for what’s public: see Who can see your information.
- Others when we must: to comply with the law or legal process, to enforce our Terms of Use, to protect the rights, property or safety of you, us or others, and as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, bankruptcy or sale of all or part of our business.
We share information only with companies that may use it to provide their services to us, and whose terms require them to protect it at least as well as this policy does.
Who can see your information
- Your profile is public. Anyone can see your name, handle, bio, location, interests and profile photos at sharedot.com/@handle, without signing in. We ask search engines not to list it.
- Your saves are private by default. If you set a save to My profile, it can be shown on your public profile. Photo and screenshot saves are always private.
How long we keep it
- Saves: for as long as you choose (3, 7, 30 or 90 days; 30 unless you change it). When that time is up, or when you delete a save, it moves to Expired & deleted, where you can bring it back for 90 days. After that you can’t see it any more, but we keep it, and any photo, until you delete your account.
- Your account, profile, sign-in records and notification settings: until you delete your account.
- Server logs and backups: for a limited time, until they’re replaced.
When you delete your account
- Right away, you’re signed out on every device, and your profile and saves are hidden from everyone.
- For 30 days, you can change your mind: sign in and keep your account, and everything comes back.
- After 30 days, we delete your account and its data, including your profile, handle, passkeys, sign-in records, saves, photos and settings.
- We keep a record that the account was deleted, with its internal ID and the dates but none of your content, so it can’t come back by mistake. The record of your request is kept for 24 months. Your handle is held for 90 days, so no one else can take it straight away. Copies can stay in server logs and backups for a limited time, until they’re replaced.
Your choices
- See your data: in the app, Profile, then Download your data, gives you a copy as a JSON file.
- Correct it: edit your profile at any time.
- Delete it: delete any save, or delete your account in the app (Profile, then Delete account) or at sharedot.com/account/delete.
- Notifications: turn them off in your phone’s Settings.
- Withdraw your consent: stop using ShareDot and delete your account. Your agent can’t work without the AI services above, so deleting your account is how you withdraw your agreement to them.
- Anything else, including information the app doesn’t include in your download: email contact@sharedot.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to a data protection authority. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, use the app or email us. We may need to confirm the account is yours.
If you’re in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we use your information to provide the Services you asked for, to keep them safe and working (our legitimate interests), with your consent where we ask for it (such as for notifications), and to comply with the law.
Children
ShareDot isn’t for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We use passkeys instead of passwords, encrypt connections to our servers, and limit who can access your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee it. If you think your account isn’t secure, email us right away.
Where your information is processed
ShareDot is based in the United States. We and the companies we work with process and store information in the United States and other countries, whose data protection rules may differ from those where you live.
Other websites and services
Your saves and pages link to other websites and services. This policy doesn’t cover them, and we aren’t responsible for their practices. Their own privacy policies apply.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date above. Changes take effect when we post them. If a change is material, we’ll also tell you in the app or on our website.
