Coinbase has launched real-time prediction markets on BTC, ETH and SOL with contracts running from 15 minutes up to one day.
Coinbase turns short-term crypto forecasting into a live product
Coinbase, the U.S. cryptocurrency exchange, has launched prediction market products tied to short-term price moves in Bitcoin, Ether and Solana. On October 25, the company wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that "crypto price prediction markets are now live on Coinbase in real time."
Users can trade by predicting price moves in BTC, ETH and SOL, with contract durations ranging from just 15 minutes to a full day, according to Bloomingbit. The move puts a major regulated exchange directly into a product category that has so far belonged mainly to specialized platforms.
Why 15-minute crypto contracts are a first for a major exchange
That turns the exchange into a venue for ultra-short-term speculation on price direction, not just spot trading and custody.
The product also arrives as crypto traders are already actively debating short-term direction — analysts are publishing hourly and daily Ethereum price scenarios — meaning demand for expressing a same-day view on BTC, ETH or SOL has an obvious audience on Coinbase's platform.
ETH's October slide gives the new markets plenty to bet on
There is no shortage of volatility for traders to take positions on.
24/7 Wall St. reports that Ethereum has shed 12% this October, trading at $2,361 after a high of $2,777 on October 2 and a low of $2,313 on October 15, and it would need a 13.7% gain to return to its October opening price of $2,684.
The outlet also notes U.S. spot Ether ETFs saw net withdrawals of $110.5 million on October 22, with cumulative net inflows falling from $13.96 billion on September 28 to $12.71 billion on October 22, and that the Ethereum Foundation postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet that had been set for October 26.
The stakes: a new battleground for the week-ahead market
The collision of a new ultra-short-term trading product with a choppy market could reshape how crypto traders express views.
24/7 Wall St.'s analysts expect ETH to close October somewhere between $2,313 and $2,548, arguing a return to the $2,684 open looks unlikely given ongoing ETF sell-offs and the lack of a new Glamsterdam launch date — and warning that a daily close below $2,313 could set fresh monthly lows.
Under that kind of regime, contracts that resolve in minutes or hours give traders a way to trade each swing rather than wait out the month, and Coinbase's scale makes this the widest test yet of whether short-cycle prediction markets become a mainstream crypto product.
