Carrot Top is home from a Las Vegas hospital and "doing well" about a week after an alleged suicide attempt, his reps say.

Multiple outlets report that comedian Carrot Top, real name Scott Thompson, has been released from a Las Vegas hospital roughly one week after an alleged suicide attempt at his home on September 18. His representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed to USA TODAY on Saturday, September 26, that the 61-year-old is now "home with his family and doing well." A source close to Thompson told PEOPLE, as reported by AOL/Parade and Wide Open Country, that he is recovering at home surrounded by family.

What makes the story more complicated is what surfaced afterward: Us Weekly reports that a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department report, obtained by Us on September 25, says Thompson learned about a lawsuit alleging sexual misconduct against him shortly before the incident. Per that report, his tour manager Daniel O'Leary told police the comedian was upset that his shows would be cancelled over the allegations.

According to O'Leary's account in the report, a news article covering the misconduct lawsuit broke around 3:20pm; Thompson allegedly said his career was over, expressed hope that a third party and her daughter "would be okay" without him, hung up, and texted O'Leary "done." O'Leary could not reach him afterward. A woman who went to check on him found the doors open and located Thompson unconscious by the pool, then immediately called for help. TMZ's report, cited by Wide Open Country and Primetimer, describes a suspected overdose and says authorities found him breathing but unconscious.

During his stay, Thompson's rep said humor remained central to his recovery. "Humor has always been such an important part of who Scott is and how he connects with people," Schlicher said, noting he was sharing moments of humor with the medical staff caring for him. His team passed along messages from fans, including stories from people who said his comedy helped them through difficult periods in their own lives — something the rep said "meant a great deal" to him. His family, through the rep, said they were "deeply grateful for the extraordinary kindness" shown during the recovery and asked that his privacy be respected.

The health scare puts a hold on a genuinely historic run. Thompson has headlined the Luxor's Atrium Showroom since 2005, which AOL/Parade notes makes him the longest continuously running solo act on the Las Vegas Strip. Ticketing sites including Ticketmaster have pulled his upcoming shows from sale, and no return date has been announced; his team says the focus is entirely on rest and privacy. Us Weekly notes the September 18 hospitalization itself resulted in the cancellation of his upcoming comedy shows. The legal cloud — a dispute with singer Brian Evans that his attorney Ronnie Bitman has called an extortion attempt — also remains unresolved, with a rep citing a federal court's description of Evans as a 'vexatious litigant'.

For now, the picture painted by the outlets is one of recovery, not return. Schlicher did not provide additional details to USA TODAY about the comedian's wellbeing, and the rep confirmed to PEOPLE, per Primetimer, that Thompson continues to receive medical care. A source told TMZ, as relayed by Primetimer, that he is "doing well" and has been speaking with his family since returning home. The Luxor residency remains on hold with no return date, and his camp says the priority is getting well rather than addressing the litigation.
