13-year-old Naré of Yerevan won Junior Eurovision 2026 in Malta with "BOO!" on her fourth attempt, giving Armenia its third contest victory.

What Happened: Armenia Takes the Crown in Ta' Qali

Armenia's Naré won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 on Saturday, October 24, at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali, defeating contestants from 15 other countries with her song "BOO!".

That Eurovision Site's results table shows Armenia placed first on both halves of the split, scoring 103 from the jury and 99 from the online vote.

Why It Is Surprising: Fourth Time Lucky

ESCplus reports that Naré's victory is a story of persistence: she first tried to represent Armenia in 2022 and again in 2023, when, aged ten, she sang Alicia Keys' "Fallin'" in the internal selection without advancing — succeeding only on her fourth attempt.

According to Eurovoix, she was chosen from more than 100 applications, with 40 singers invited to in-person auditions in Yerevan. The Armenian Report adds that the "BOO!" music video had already surpassed 1 million YouTube views before the final, marking her as a favorite going in.

The Song: "BOO!" Turns Childhood Fears Into a Win

"BOO!" is an energetic, playful song in Armenian and English about childhood fears and how to face them through imagination and play, using the metaphor of hide-and-seek in a dark room, according to ESCplus.

The Armenian Report says Naré describes its message as learning to face what frightens us rather than allowing fear to take control.

The writing team is a reunion of Armenian contest alumni: ESCplus credits music to Lilit Navasardyan, co-writer of "Love" (2015) and "Brave Heart" (2025), and lyrics to Grigor Kyokchyan, co-writer of "Dance!" (2022), with the music video directed by Artur Manukyan.

The performance the pack's outlets describe is Naré's live delivery of "BOO!" at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre, photographed for the contest by Corinne Cumming / EBU and cited by Eurovoix and That Eurovision Site as the moment that sealed Armenia's 202 points.

For singing enthusiasts, the interest is in a 13-year-old holding an upbeat bilingual number under a 50/50 jury and online vote — a format, as Eurovoix notes, where the online vote is based on rehearsal snippets before the show and a 15-minute window after the last performance.

That split rewarded both technical jury scrutiny and popular appeal at once.

The Stakes: Armenia Joins the Contest's Elite

This is Armenia's third Junior Eurovision win, after Vladimir Arzumanyan's "Mama" in 2010 and Maléna's "Qami Qami" in 2021, a record Eurovisionworld confirms in its winners list.

ESCplus notes Armenia debuted in 2007 and had also finished second five times, more than any other country, making Naré's breakthrough the culmination of one of the contest's most consistent programs.

Eurovisionworld frames the stakes historically: the contest began in Copenhagen in 2003 with 16 countries, and the 24th edition returned to that same 16-country field, now open to children aged 9 to 14.

What Comes Next for the New Champion

Naré herself, born in Yerevan in August 2013 and a student at Ayb School who also plays piano, arrives home with a CV already spanning musicals, television programmes and Armenian music projects, per ESCplus and Eurovoix.

The Armenian Report notes the win followed previous Armenian victories in 2010 and 2021, cementing a dynasty young fans will be watching.
