The Notebook musical will make its UK debut at London's renamed Judi Dench Theatre, opening April 13, 2027, with tickets on sale now.
Allie and Noah head to the West End
The stage musical version of The Notebook is preparing to make its UK debut on the West End, according to the London Evening Standard.
Adapted from Nicholas Sparks' debut novel and the beloved 2004 film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the story follows Allie and Noah, two lovers torn apart by class divisions who later reconnect.
Performances will begin at the theatre currently known as the Shaftesbury Theatre, with tickets going on sale October 23.
Sparks remarked that he never envisioned his 30-year-old novel resonating so strongly with audiences worldwide, saying the global response has been incredible and that he is thrilled to share this latest evolution of the story with London audiences.
First show in a renamed theatre
The Evening Standard reports the venue will be officially renamed the Judi Dench Theatre in February next year, honouring Dame Judi Dench's seven-decade contribution to British theatre and the performing arts — and The Notebook will be the first show to play it under the new name.
Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, known for tracks like The Way I Am and Girls Chase Boys, composed the score and lyrics, and she called the honour 'beyond thrilling.'
She said the collaborative nature of musicals is what makes them special, and that she couldn't imagine a better team for The Notebook.
Creative team and what comes next
According to the Standard, the production is co-directed by Michael Greif and Schele Williams, with choreography created by Katie Spelman. The show opens April 13, 2027, with previews from March 10, and casting has yet to be announced.
For theatergoers tracking the 2027 season, ticket sales already open means casting news is the next reveal to watch for.
A busy week for London culture
While The Notebook news anchors the theater beat, Time Out reports a quieter London development from the same news cycle: plans have been submitted for a community sauna in Crystal Palace Park, a joint bid from the Crystal Palace Park Trust and Community Sauna Baths that could welcome up to 200 people a day.
Bromley Council has yet to decide, so no opening date is set.
