Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Demo Drops Oct 1 With Save Transfer

Konami has announced an official demo for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, releasing October 1, 2026 — exactly two weeks before the full game launches on October 15. The demo will be available on every format the full game supports: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Save data from the demo can be transferred into the full version, provided players use the same platform and account. According to Video Games Chronicle, the demo is a relatively small download of roughly 3-6 GB depending on format.

The genuinely unusual part is the save transfer. According to Insider Gaming, the demo features the opening chapter and notes that certain features and content may be restricted, though exactly which ones are not specified. The Koalition argues this strategy has already worked well for Capcom titles like Pragmata and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and believes Belmont's Curse could benefit the same way.

According to Insider Gaming, the demo runs at 60 FPS on all platforms except Nintendo Switch, which is capped at 30 FPS. Install requirements vary by platform: the PS5 version needs the most space at 6 GB, Xbox needs 5 GB, PC requires 4 GB, and the Switch needs the least at 3 GB. Destructoid reports the demo will be just 4GB on Steam, while Nintendo Life confirms the Switch's 30fps cap and 3GB minimum requirement, citing Konami's official website.

While Konami has not disclosed the demo's full length, Destructoid notes that screenshots suggest a scope similar to a June 2026 preview — three boss fights, several stages, puzzles and secrets, totaling a little over three hours. Insider Gaming says the demo features the opening chapter. Destructoid also stresses the platform-matching rule: no demoing on PC to build progress for a PS5 copy. The transfer requires the demo save data to be retained and the full version to be updated to the latest version, per Konami's notes.

Belmont's Curse is a 40th-anniversary celebration co-developed by Konami and Evil Empire (The Rogue Prince of Persia), with advisory help from Motion Twin of Dead Cells fame. Players control Rose Belmont, daughter of previous protagonist Trevor Belmont, exploring Dracula's castle and the catacombs of Paris in 1499 — 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Video Games Chronicle went hands-on recently and came away impressed, calling it 'familiar but solid' rather than a genre revolution — a game that doesn't have to reinvent the Metroidvania wheel when it helped coin the term.

The full release on October 15 applies to all platforms including Nintendo Switch — a change from Konami's earlier position that the Switch version would arrive at a later date, which the publisher later corrected, according to Video Games Chronicle. Players wanting the save-transfer benefit should ensure they play the demo on the same platform and account they plan to use for the full game, and keep that save data intact until launch.
