'Ocarina of Time' Remake Preorders Drop $10 at Amazon, Walmart

Physical preorders for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake are now $10.11 off at Amazon and Walmart, with both retailers listing the game at $59.88 instead of the usual $69.99 physical price. That puts the physical edition essentially in line with the $59.99 digital version — a rare discount on a first-party Nintendo title before launch. Mashable notes that Best Buy, Target, GameStop and the Nintendo Store were not matching the offer at the time of writing, and Tom's Guide points out you may need to add the game to your cart to see the discount.

Tom's Guide calls it a rare pre-order discount on the biggest Switch 2 game of the year, landing exclusively on November 5 — just two weeks before GTA 6 arrives on rival consoles. The remake was formally revealed during a Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct, which showed gameplay with modernized visuals, free camera controls and a dedicated jump button.

There is an extra reason to preorder physically: Mashable cites a Nintendo press release saying the first print run will have special packaging featuring textured foil cover art. Preorder bonuses are also stacking up regionally — My Nintendo News reports that X user estarland compiled the known bonuses, with Canadian preorders via EB Games receiving an N64-style Ocarina of Time slipcase, while US customers have no announced bonus yet. Meanwhile, a Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console, Pro Controller and carrying case arrive October 29.

Nintendo of America president and COO Devon Pritchard told Variety the Ocarina of Time remake lands in November ahead of the live-action Zelda film coming at the end of April, part of a multiyear plan built with partners like Sony Pictures. Pritchard framed the Switch 2 as only at its beginning, saying Nintendo is focused on building experiences that create relationships lasting generations rather than competing for consumers' time.

Fans watching for a US preorder bonus should keep an eye on announcements, since My Nintendo News notes none had been revealed stateside. And anyone considering the hardware side can already check the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 at multiple retailers ahead of its October 29 release.
