WNBA stars Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd announced on Fudd's podcast that they broke up more than a year ago and remain friends and teammates.
The Reveal Fans Didn't See Coming
Dallas Wings guards Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd told fans on the Friday, November 6 episode of Fudd's podcast "Fudd Around and Find Out" that they are no longer together. "Paige and I have something that we want to share with everyone," Fudd, 23, said.
Bueckers, 25, confirmed the breakup happened sometime in 2025 — more than a year ago — after the pair went public with their relationship in July 2025. Fudd added that this would be the last time they discuss the split on a public platform.
Shutting Down the Draft Narratives
The reveal is striking because Fudd was selected by the Wings with the No. 1 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft in April, reuniting the former UConn teammates in Dallas and fueling widespread assumptions about their relationship.
Bueckers insisted those storylines were wrong: "We were not together before she got drafted. So all of those narratives can go to bed."
According to Us Weekly, she stressed that Fudd "was drafted because she deserved it," calling her an amazing human and basketball player, and noted the exes have already played an entire season together as professionals.
Pushing Back on Fan Negativity
Both stars used the announcement to confront the harassment surrounding them.
Yahoo Entertainment reports Bueckers said they have seen "a lot of negativity" and "a lot of hate," with hostile material even sent to their family and friends, and that she does not condone putting people down to lift the pair up.
"If you support us, why would you hate on our teammates? Why would you hate on our friends? Why would you hate on our family?" she asked. Fudd agreed, saying the rest of their story will stay private.
Still Teammates, Still Friends
The split appears amicable by every account in the pack. Bueckers framed it philosophically — "Sometimes in life, there's just seasons" — and promised the two will remain great friends, great teammates and professionals who want the best for each other.
Fudd echoed that they have addressed everything fans need to know. The former couple were teammates for four seasons at UConn from 2021 to 2025 before their WNBA reunion in Dallas, and Bueckers closed the podcast moment with a smile: "Heartbreak, but we're still gang though."
