The Ascendance of a Bookworm anime staff announced a Part 4 TV adaptation of the Royal Academy library committee arc, continuing at WIT Studio.
The Announcement: Library Committee Arc Is Next
The staff behind the *Ascendance of a Bookworm* anime announced on Saturday, October 3, 2026 that Part 4 of Miya Kazuki's light novel series, *Founder of the Royal Academy's So-Called Library Committee*, will receive a television anime adaptation. According to Anime News Network, the announcement came immediately after the Part 3 anime aired its finale. WIT Studio will once again handle animation production, and no premiere date was confirmed. The official anime account posted the news with an ending-card illustration by novel artist You Shiina, per AnimeMojo.
Why the Timing and Studio Matter
The sequel landed on the same day Part 3 concluded, which AnimeMojo calls 'the cleanest way to say the academy arc is next instead of a hiatus with no name on it.' WIT Studio staying on is itself notable: the studio only took over the franchise for Part 3, replacing Ajia-do, which had produced the first three seasons. According to Anime Trending, Part 3, titled *Adopted Daughter of an Archduke*, premiered April 4, 2026 on Yomiuri TV and NTV and ran 24 episodes across two consecutive cours, ending October 3. Anime News Network reports it replaced director Mitsuru Hongō with Yoshiaki Iwasaki, with Mariko Kunisawa on scripts and Aiko Minowa as character designer.
The Story She Signed Up For
Part 4 adapts what Anime News Network identifies as the *Kizoku-in no Jishō Tosho Iin* arc, in which Rozemyne — voiced since her rename by Yuka Iguchi, with Show Hayami as Ferdinand — awakens from a two-year sleep to enroll at the Royal Academy as an archduke candidate. AnimeMojo notes the curriculum is mana control, magic tools and the magic required to rule, but the part's title is the joke and the plot: she founds a library committee because the academy's shelves are not good enough, treating neglected collection as a personal emergency.
A Franchise With Staying Power
The isekai fantasy series began as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2013, concluded the web version in 2017, and ran in print from TO Books from January 25, 2015 to December 9, 2023 with 33 total volumes, You Shiina illustrating. According to Anime News Network, the series now has over 13 million copies in circulation including digital. The first season premiered October 2019 with 14 episodes, followed by seasons in April 2020 and April 2022, all streamed by Crunchyroll, which also streams Part 3 with subtitles and an English dub. J-Novel Club releases the novels and manga digitally in English.
What Comes Next
Saturday's announcement confirms the studio but not the staff, per AnimeMojo, which notes the post did not lock Yoshiaki Iwasaki's director's chair for Part 4 — 'more news later' is how the official tweet closed. Part 3's new cast included Yukari Tamura as Georgine, Mami Koyama as Veronica, Minami Takayama as Florencia, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Bonifatius, Nao Tōyama as Angelica and Asami Seto as Brigitte, per Anime News Network. Until a date arrives, the choice is whether to catch up on Part 3's half-year run or start reading the library committee arc on J-Novel Club.
