Tate McRae Launches First Fragrance, Tate 01

Tate McRae has released her debut eau de parfum Tate 01 with Scent Beauty, a "second-skin" scent she says ties into her next musical era.

Tate McRae officially launched her first fragrance, Tate 01, on October 1, 2026, marking her first foray into the beauty space. Created with Scent Beauty, Inc. and Givaudan master perfumers Adriana Medina and Antoine Maisondieu, the eau de parfum opens with bergamot and clary sage before a heart of orange flower and hedione and base notes of moss, tonka bean, and sandalwood.

The 23-year-old pop star told Who What Wear that creating a fragrance "is the pinnacle of being a pop singer in my head," a dream she has held since her dance-competition days. She is well aware of Y2K-era comparisons to Britney Spears, whose early-2000s perfume defined the pop-star playbook, and cites Ariana Grande's Cloud as her favorite pop-girl scent. The launch arrives as McRae builds a wider empire: trademark filings reportedly covering skincare, lip gloss, and candles have fueled speculation about a full beauty line, per an AOL report.

A key ingredient sets Tate 01 apart: ISO E Super, a synthetic molecule that interacts with individual skin chemistry to create a personalized dry-down. Page Six reports the molecule reacts with body heat, so the perfume "smells like a different perfume" on everyone who wears it, as McRae told ELLE. She describes it as a "second-skin" fragrance — effortless, subtly edgy, and warm — and says she wears it during rehearsals because it moves with her body.

The campaign, shot in St. Barts by legendary photographer Mario Sorrenti, draws on 1990s supermodel imagery and features McRae posing topless in a swimming pool. Who What Wear notes Sorrenti famously shot Kate Moss for Calvin Klein's Obsession in the '90s, making his involvement feel like "cosmic alignment" as McRae becomes the new face of Calvin Klein denim. McRae says her references include Gisele Bündchen, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, and Claudia Schiffer, aiming for timeless, feminine visuals that echo her minimalist milky-cube bottle design.

Tate 01 is available now at tatebytm.com in sizes from 10ml to 100ml, priced from $30 to $82, according to the International Business Times Singapore edition. Ulta Beauty will carry the fragrance online on October 16 and in stores nationwide on October 25, marking the singer's first major retail partnership. Scent Beauty CEO Steve Mormoris suggested the launch could reach eight-figure revenues, potentially nine figures by 2027, per SSBCrack News, with global distribution planned through retailers including Douglas and Boots in the U.K.

The launch has already sparked speculation about McRae's broader ambitions. AOL reports a new "Tate by TM" account with cryptic teasers, including a clapperboard reading "Directed by Holl" and a sign-up page promising something "COMING SOON." McRae has not confirmed what the project represents, but she is also scheduled to perform at the 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on October 18 in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Who What Wear says the fragrance is helping shape the "world-building" of her fourth album, which she says is still in development.
