Redwire stock jumped over 7% overnight after record Q2 revenue of $117.1 million and a record 27.8% gross margin beat estimates.

Record Quarter Sends RDW Up Over 7% Overnight

Redwire (RDW) surged more than 7% overnight after the space and defense technology company posted record second-quarter revenue of $117.1 million, up 89.6% year on year, according to Stocktwits.

Adjusted losses narrowed sharply to $0.09 per share from a loss of $0.31 a year earlier, and both revenue and the loss beat analyst consensus estimates of $107.66 million and a $0.15 loss.

Gross margin hit a record 27.8%, a dramatic turnaround from a negative 27% margin last year, and adjusted EBITDA improved to a loss of just $3.2 million even while the company spent $12.5 million on research and development.

Stocktwits reports the move puts RDW on track for its best week since May, with the stock already up 41% year to date.

Why the Beat Surprised: From Negative Margins to Record Liquidity

The surprise is the speed of the financial reversal. Stocktwits notes the company cut its aggregate term loans from $90.0 million to $50.0 million during the quarter and ended with record total liquidity of $607.8 million, per CFO Chris Edmunds.

Management also reaffirmed full-year 2026 revenue guidance of $450 million to $500 million, pointing to a healthy order pipeline. What makes the move unusual is that it is not a story of hope but of proven execution — yet the stock still trades as if that execution has not happened.

Retail Traders Demand a 'Valuation Rebalance'

Stocktwits reports retail sentiment on RDW stayed in 'extremely bullish' territory, with message volume up 162% in 24 hours as traders argued Wall Street is mispricing the company. One user asked, 'Now can we please rebalance the valuation among all the space names!!'

Another complained the company had ripped earnings, expanded, acquired talent and built cash, 'so why all the wallstreet folks still pricing this company as a staples company?'

A third pointed to roughly 42.9 million shares short and predicted frantic short covering premarket, which could amplify the rally.

Stakes: Can Redwire Decouple From the Space-Stock Discount?

The stakes go beyond one quarter.

Stocktwits notes Redwire won new awards in Q2 for its Stalker Block 30 platform from the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence, plus new Penguin uncrewed aerial systems awards, and delivered nearly 200 Octopus ISR payloads in the first half — over 15% ahead of last year's pace.

The question retail traders pose is whether defense-space names can command software-like multiples. According to TradingKey, Palantir justifies its demanding valuation with 93% revenue growth and a $127 million Army TITAN production award, showing how large the premium gap is for defense tech.
