Motorola's Signature 27 arrives with a 12,000-nit display, a 7,000mAh battery and a price that rivals the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Motorola Announces the Signature 27 Flagship

Motorola has announced the Signature 27, a top-end flagship that succeeds the original Signature launched only in January.

The phone pairs a 7,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo display, and what Motorola claims is "the brightest display available in a smartphone" at 12,000 nits of peak brightness.

Powering it all is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, announced in September and a generation ahead of the chip in the Galaxy S26 series — fixing the main weakness of its predecessor, which ran the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

Why the Specs Dwarf the Competition

The numbers put the established flagships to shame. TechRadar notes the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra offers a 5,000mAh battery and 2,600-nit peak brightness, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 5,567mAh battery (5,391mAh in models with a removable SIM card) and 3,000-nit peak brightness.

The Signature 27's camera stack is equally aggressive: a 50MP wide, 50MP ultra-wide, and a 200MP 3x periscope with 100x AI-powered zoom, plus the first-ever dedicated EVS action sensor on a smartphone and a 50MP front camera. MobileSyrup adds Water Touch, which keeps the screen usable when wet.

The Catch: a Price That Rivals Apple and Samsung

All that hardware comes at a premium that may hold the phone back.

TechRadar reports it will retail for £1,299.99 — roughly $1,750 / AU$2,495, with US and Australian pricing yet to be confirmed — making it pricier than the iPhone 18 Pro and about on par with the iPhone 18 Pro Max or Galaxy S26 Ultra.

MobileSyrup, however, reports a $2,499 price tag for the North American market, putting it in foldable territory. TechRadar also notes the ceramic, glass and aluminum chassis carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, and supports privacy-focused GrapheneOS, previously limited to Pixel devices.

Availability and What Comes Next

The rollout differs by region.

TechRadar reports the Signature 27 ships in Europe on November 16 in Pantone Coal Smoke and Pantone Capulet Olive, while MobileSyrup says it lands in the US on November 19 — and that Motorola now says the device will be exclusive to the US with no availability in Canada at this time.

TechRadar promises a full review in the coming weeks, which will show whether Motorola can justify flagship pricing with a brand few pay that much for.
