Coperni SAS will shut down after eight years as founders Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer failed to resolve a dispute with shareholder Tomorrow.

The Label Shuts Down

Parisian fashion brand Coperni is closing its operations, with co-founders Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer officially shuttering the label after eight years.

Both Hypebeast and dscene magazine report that the main French operating entity, Coperni SAS, will cease all business activities after the designers failed to reach an agreement with Tomorrow, the brand's majority shareholder and exclusive distributor, over unpaid sums and licensing terms.

In a statement shared by the designers, they said: "These eight years have been extraordinary. Coperni has always been a collective adventure, and we are immensely proud of what we have created."

Why the Closure Stuns the Industry

The end came not from creative failure but from a corporate standoff: dscene magazine reports that Tomorrow's dual role as exclusive distributor and majority shareholder made the disagreement especially difficult to unwind, giving the company significant control over the brand's commercial operations.

Hypebeast notes that the decision officially ends the eight-year-old label, which the founders describe as a collective adventure they remain immensely proud of.

The Evidence: A Year of Escalating Friction

The collapse followed a documented chain of escalations. According to dscene magazine, Tomorrow stopped paying sums owed to the brand and then terminated its licensing agreement, prompting Coperni to seek protection from a commercial court in Paris earlier this year.

Hypebeast reports that complications deepened after Tomorrow Ltd was acquired in March by Progetto 11, the holding vehicle for The Level Group, raising new governance questions.

Vaillant and Meyer actively attempted to buy back their brand and regain control, but dscene magazine says those negotiations failed to produce an agreement that would keep the business running under their direction, and the label's Fall/Winter 2026 runway show was abruptly cancelled.

What Comes Next for Vaillant and Meyer

The founders are framing the closure as an ending of the current business structure, not of their creative partnership. In their statement, reported by both outlets, they pointed to an industry that has become "increasingly challenging" and said innovation has always been their passion and priority.

Hypebeast reports they look ahead "with optimism and plenty of ideas," while dscene magazine notes the designers have yet to announce a new project or say whether they intend to pursue another arrangement involving the Coperni brand.

For now, the announcement concludes a difficult chapter for a label that helped define recent Paris fashion week conversation.
