Vauxhall has passed 100,000 battery-electric vehicle sales in the UK, hitting 102,852 units by October 2026 as its electric lineup keeps expanding.
What Happened: The 100,000th EV Is Delivered
Vauxhall has surpassed 100,000 battery-electric vehicle sales in the UK, with Electric Cars Report putting the total at 102,852 fully electric cars and vans sold as of October 2026. The milestone 100,000th vehicle was a Grandland Electric 213PS Ultimate, delivered by Drive Vauxhall Nuneaton.
The Grandland has genuine enthusiast credibility too: according to Electric Cars Report, it finished third overall in the 2026 Auto Express Driver Power reliability survey and topped the mid-size SUV category.
The brand's electric push has been rapid — from 10,000 EV sales in 2021 and 50,000 in 2023 to the six-figure mark in 2026.
Why It Matters: Affordability First, Not Halo Cars
What makes this milestone notable for EV watchers is how Vauxhall got there.
Rather than leading with a flagship, it attacked the price gap: Electric Cars Report notes the Frontera Electric and Frontera Hybrid launched at the same list price, eliminating the usual electric premium, and the New Astra applied the same on-the-road pricing across trims.
With the UK Electric Car Grant applied, Electric Cars Report says the Astra Electric can actually cost less than its hybrid and plug-in hybrid siblings.
Two models carried the volume: the Mokka Electric, with more than 26,000 sales since 2020, and the Corsa Electric, past 23,000 units from the same launch year.
The Lineup: From Ampera to GSE Performance
Vauxhall's electric history stretches back to the 2011 Ampera, one of Europe's first range-extender vehicles, before the 2019 Corsa-e arrived with a 50kWh battery, 136hp and up to 209 miles of WLTP range.
Electric Cars Report details how the latest Corsa Electric has grown to a 51kWh battery, 156hp and up to 265 miles of range, and how by 2024 every passenger car in the range had an electric version.
The brand's electric van story is equally significant — every van has had an electric version since 2021, and it was Britain's best-selling electric van maker for three straight years through 2023.
The Combo Electric is built at Ellesmere Port, the UK's first EV-only volume plant, and the new Mokka GSE and Corsa GSE add performance as the fastest electric production cars Vauxhall has built.
Charging Stakes: Electric Streets of Britain
Vauxhall's next battleground is infrastructure. Electric Cars Report describes the Electric Streets of Britain campaign, launched in 2023, which lets drivers register streets that need public on-street charging — crucially targeting households without driveways or home chargers.
More than 13,000 streets across the UK have now been registered under the initiative, and Vauxhall has shared the data with charging providers char.gy, Connected Kerb, and Kerbo Charge to guide where the network expands next.
The Broader Picture: Demand Is Shifting Globally
Vauxhall's milestone lands amid clear momentum for electrified vehicles in other markets.
Serrari Group reports that South Africa sold 22,389 new energy vehicles in the first nine months of 2026, already exceeding the 16,703 sold across all of 2025, with roughly one in nine new passenger cars sold in September carrying an electrified powertrain.
That market's breakdown is a reminder that adoption takes different shapes: Serrari Group notes fully battery-electric models accounted for 3,217 of those sales, against 8,082 plug-in hybrids and 11,090 conventional hybrids, driven partly by petrol prices that crossed R30 per litre inland in October.
Vauxhall's UK trajectory — all-electric, price-parity led — shows the alternative path where buyers skip the hybrid step entirely.
