Larry the Cable Guy blasted Fox News on X for framing his old podcast remarks as a current grievance, forcing Fox News Digital to issue a correction.

The Comedian Calls Out the Network

Larry the Cable Guy (Daniel Whitney) says Fox News published an article framing his past sponsor struggles as an active complaint. After the network's piece ran, Whitney re-posted it on X with the caption, "This is why I never do interviews because clips are always taken outa context."

He added that his career has been amazing and he is not unhappy about anything, per Yahoo Lifestyle Canada. He also joked that Fox should "use a better pic than this one. I'm much hotter now. Lol."

Why the Story Spun Wrong

The trouble began on the October 12 MeatEater Podcast, where the 63-year-old recalled being passed over for national campaigns by companies like DirecTV early in his career over fears his Southern accent and edgy humor were too "controversial."

He questioned why DirecTV never signed him, saying it "would've been huge," and vented about era hypocrisy: "Meanwhile, you got frickin' rappers, you know, singing about killing cops!"

Yahoo Lifestyle Canada reports Fox's headline and lead implied he was currently bitter about corporate double standards.

Fox Backtracks With a Correction

Following the comedian's public call-out, Fox News Digital updated its article with an editor's note.

The network stated, "This story was revised after Larry the Cable Guy said some of his comments were taken out of context and that he harbors no genuine ill toward corporations over their treatment of him."

AOL's report of the exchange notes the reversal came swiftly after Whitney re-posted the story and clarified the podcast chat was lighthearted, held before a Nebraska game in his suite box.

What's Next for Larry

He currently hosts American Mayhem, a comedy clip show that premiered on CBS and streams on Paramount+, built around real-life fail videos with his signature green-screen commentary.

He also co-runs Jeff & Larry's Comedy Round-Up on SiriusXM Channel 106 alongside Jeff Foxworthy and hosts Larry the Cable Guy and The Fun Bunch, per Yahoo Lifestyle Canada.
