Delta Plans Largest-Ever LAX Schedule With 200 Daily Flights

Delta says it will run its biggest Los Angeles operation ever in summer 2027, topping 200 daily departures and adding Monterey and Philadelphia nonstops.

Delta says that at the summer 2027 peak it and its partners will offer more than 200 daily departures from LAX to nearly 70 destinations, which the airline describes as its largest-ever Los Angeles schedule. Two new routes anchor the expansion: twice-daily nonstop service to Monterey beginning December 19, 2026 on Delta Connection Embraer 175 aircraft, and daily nonstop service to Philadelphia starting June 7, 2027 on an Airbus A321neo. Delta also plans to increase frequencies to seven U.S. destinations, including eight daily flights to Seattle and five each to Boston and San Diego by July 2027.

According to Delta News Hub, LAX has become the first airport in Delta's network with two Delta One Lounges, an additional 11,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club opens in Terminal 2 in 2027, and by 2028 Delta expects four lounge spaces totaling more than 60,000 square feet and over 1,000 seats. Onboard, a new Delta One wine program of 13 selections begins October 1, and Domestic First Class diners get chef-curated dishes from José Andrés.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that tickets for the new PHL-LAX route are already on sale, and notes that Delta is Philadelphia International's third-largest carrier by passenger volume, having carried nearly 2 million passengers through the airport in 2025. The Inquirer also points out the competitive backdrop: American Airlines, PHL's largest carrier, already operates several daily nonstops to Los Angeles. The paper adds that PHL is in the midst of a nearly $2 billion renovation yet for the sixth year in a row scored lowest among large U.S. airports in J.D. Power's annual passenger satisfaction rating last week.

The schedule ramps up in stages: Monterey launches in December 2026 alongside a new daily Salt Lake City-Monterey route, Raleigh-Durham grows to two daily flights on April 12, 2027, Boston follows in May, and the bulk of frequency increases land on July 11, 2027. Internationally, Delta says Auckland returns to daily service on October 25 and Melbourne goes daily for the peak period from December 22, while the airline claims one-stop access to more than 100 countries through its partners.
