Parton Sisters Break Silence to Deny Estate Feud Rumors

Stella and Freida Parton publicly denied reports of a family feud over Dolly Parton's estate, insisting the family remains united as a legal battle continues.

Two of Dolly Parton's sisters publicly addressed reports of infighting within the family, less than a month after the country icon's death on Aug. 25 at age 80. Freida Parton, 69, wrote on Instagram that 'there is no feud within our family,' adding that 'no one among the Parton/Owens family is fighting over Dolly's estate' and 'we all love Bryan, just as we all love each other.' Stella Parton, 77, followed in a Facebook post: 'All families have the same struggles since we are all living in this world having a human experience... we are still intact and moving forward.'

The denials came in direct response to an escalating legal dispute that has dominated coverage since Parton's death. According to The Daily Beast, her longtime manager Danny Nozell fired nephew Bryan Seaver and removed his security teams from Parton's properties on Sept. 16, then filed a lawsuit through She's Alive, LLC on Sept. 23. TMZ reports a Tennessee judge granted the estate a temporary restraining order against Seaver on Sept. 22-23. The sisters' unified message is striking because it defends Seaver even as the estate's legal action against him proceeds.

Court filings described by multiple outlets allege Seaver, Parton's head of security for roughly two decades, made threats and demanded money. Fox News, citing Associated Press court documents, quotes a Sept. 1 message in which Seaver allegedly wrote that he would set up a podcast 'dedicated to ruining Dolly's brand partnerships... Or f---ing pay me.' TMZ reports the estate alleged he invoked 'his self-proclaimed military-contractor experience, access to weapons, and capacity for violence.' Seaver denies the allegations, telling ABC News the restraining order is 'spurious and simply a publicity stunt' and saying his texts were taken out of context.

USA Today reports the temporary restraining order prevents Seaver from entering She's Alive properties, contacting its employees or business partners, or coming within 1,000 feet of them. TMZ adds that a new private security team has taken over protection of Parton's Nashville home, museum and warehouse, and that staffers allegedly fled the office and now need home security. Seaver's team told TMZ they were 'dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions' since Parton's death, saying they believe changes are being made 'in bad faith.'

Forbes estimated Parton's net worth at $450 million in 2025, The Daily Beast reports, and She's Alive, LLC — run by Nozell — was created specifically to protect her professional legacy. Fox News flagged analysis that disputes among relatives intensify when a famous person leaves behind a valuable brand. The family's public statements insist no one is fighting over the estate itself, even as court papers describe a bitter clash between the estate's operator and a nephew Parton personally chose to announce her death.

USA Today reports a hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. Stella Parton also revealed there will be a celebration in Parton's honor on Friday, marking one month since her death, writing 'her light will never go out because the seeds of goodness she planted in all our lives will keep growing.' The family is grieving a second loss as well: brother Denver Parton died in July at 82, less than a month before Dolly. Neither the legal filings nor the family's statements disclose how Parton's assets will ultimately be distributed.
