Kylie Jenner's company has filed a pending USPTO trademark application for daughter Stormi Webster's name spanning a full range of beauty products.
A Trademark Filing for an 8-Year-Old
Kylie Jenner Inc. has filed a trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for her 8-year-old daughter's full name, Stormi Webster, according to NewBeauty.
The filing covers just about every category you would expect from a full beauty line: skin-care staples like moisturizers, lotions, creams, cleansers, serums and facial oils, plus body oils, shower and bath gels, cosmetics, fragrances, hair care and nail products.
NewsBreak, citing the U.S. Sun, reports the application was submitted on August 24 and indicates an intent to use Stormi's name for that same wide range of goods and services.
Both outlets stress the same caveat: the filing is currently listed as pending, and no launch, product lineup or business plan has been announced.
Why It Raises Eyebrows
The idea of a beauty business built around a name belonging to a third-grader did not sit well with social media users, and NewsBreak's shefinds report rounds up the reaction.
Critics asked why an 8-year-old needs a skin-care line, with one commenting that they hoped it was a joke and another pleading for it to stop. One commenter took a sharper angle: "Some kids inherit a business, Stormi gets trademarked before she can run one."
The backlash lands on a family already under scrutiny for putting children into commercial ventures — NewsBreak notes Kim Kardashian was criticized for featuring sons Saint and Psalm in a Skims Kids ad campaign.
Still, NewsBreak points out Kylie is not the only celebrity parent taking such steps, noting Victoria Beckham has helped 15-year-old Harper Beckham pursue plans for a beauty brand.
A Pattern of Teases That Never Shipped
NewBeauty reports she previously filed for "Stormi World," a nod to father Travis Scott's Astroworld album and festival, but beyond a themed birthday party, no business ever took shape.
NewBeauty also recalls that during her Inside Kylie Cosmetics YouTube series in 2021, Jenner teased that her then 3-year-old was launching a "little secret brand" — a brand that never surfaced, which is why the outlet counsels cautious optimism.
There is precedent for the product side, though: Kylie Baby, the personal-care line Jenner launched with Coty in 2021, was inspired by Stormi, per NewBeauty.
From Filing to First Product — If Ever
For now, the application is pending and there is no word on when, or whether, any Stormi-branded products will arrive. NewBeauty notes that brands often file early with the USPTO simply to protect a name long before anything hits shelves, so the filing alone is no promise of product.
The stakes sit within an empire that began with Kylie Cosmetics in 2015, grew to include Kylie Skin, and saw Coty acquire a 51 percent stake in Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin in 2019, according to NewBeauty.
The outlet says it will be watching USPTO filings and Jenner's Instagram for any sign of a launch, while NewsBreak notes there is no confirmation that a Stormi-branded beauty line is actually in the works.
