Three overnight Halloween shootings in Dallas's Deep Ellum district killed four people and injured about 15 others, prompting multiple arrests.

Three Shootings in 75 Minutes

Four people were killed and approximately 15 others were injured in three separate shootings that struck Dallas's Deep Ellum entertainment district overnight Saturday, police said.

The first shooting was reported around 12:19-12:20 a.m. in the 2600 block of Elm Street, a second followed shortly after 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street about a block away, and a third occurred about 1:35 a.m. along the 200 block of Crowdus Street.

All three locations sit within roughly half a mile of one another in a district packed with restaurants, bars, art galleries and concert venues that had advertised Halloween events.

NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reports that Dallas police also logged a 3:30 a.m. shooting call on South Ervay Street, outside Deep Ellum. It remains unclear whether any shots were fired inside businesses or on the street, according to Chief Daniel Comeaux.

The injured count is still shifting because some victims transported themselves to hospitals.

Crowded Streets, Running Patrons

The violence hit one of Dallas's busiest nightlife corridors on a night when bars were packed. Bri Jason, a hostess at Hawkers Asian Street Food, told CNN she had finished a closing shift when the first shots rang out and saw people screaming and running; a coworker ducked behind a food stand.

She described jammed sidewalks with '100 bodies around you' and said gun violence in the area feels 'very common' from her perspective. The Dallas Police Department had increased staffing in anticipation of Halloween crowds, and Comeaux said the department was 'ramped up' for the night.

He praised the response time, noting that one officer was less than two blocks away when he heard gunfire and ran toward the scene, and that an officer performed lifesaving measures that revived an injured person. No officers were hurt.

'One of my coworkers just told me she was out, and she had to duck behind a food stand,' Jason told CNN.

Arrests, Open Questions and Evidence Appeal

Police have made multiple arrests and are questioning people in custody, but have not determined whether the three shootings are connected and have not publicly identified any suspects.

'At this time, we have no information that they are related, but we're still doing an investigation,' Comeaux said. Investigators are asking the public for photos, videos and social media footage from the area to help reconstruct what happened at each location.

Victims' identities and conditions had not been released by Sunday morning, though NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reports that 21-year-old Kaniesa Scott was identified by her family as one of the victims.

The Dallas Morning News, cited by NBC 5, reported four people were killed across two locations and at least six wounded at a third. City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert said the city's thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

A Repeating Pattern in the District

The Halloween shootings are at least the fourth incident this year in which multiple people were wounded by gunfire in Deep Ellum, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth: two people were shot on Canton Street on August 14, a man was arrested after shooting three people on Elm Street on August 23, and five people were injured during Cinco de Mayo celebrations along Commerce Street.

The overnight attacks also came roughly six months after a pair of shootings within a block of each other left a 26-year-old security officer dead and five others injured, CNN reports, citing affiliate KTVT.

Comeaux pledged that police will 'do everything that we need to do to get everyone in custody that's responsible' as the investigation continues.
