Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror Breaks Silence: 'I Didn't Have Any Doubts'

The lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy trial says he never had reasonable doubt, contradicting the 11 jurors who favored a not-criminally-responsible verdict.

Two weeks after a mistrial ended the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, the lone holdout juror, Michael P. Desronvil, has broken his silence. In a statement posted to X by his attorney, Edward Andrew Paltzik, Desronvil said, "I didn't have any doubts. As I tried to explain different possible theories during deliberation, I kept getting cut off as if I had doubts based on the evidence presented." He added that based on the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what prosecutors presented, he believed there was enough proof that Clancy "knew exactly what she was doing and planned." Paltzik said his client will not give interviews, calling him an "American Hero and Champion of Justice," and asked the public to respect his privacy.

The statement directly contradicts accounts from other jurors. Several who spoke out said 11 members favored finding Clancy not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility, and that Desronvil admitted having reasonable doubt while refusing to join them. The Blast reports that through Fugitive TV host Ray Marcel, Desronvil claimed the jury was initially more divided — eight for acquittal, two for guilt and two undecided — and said statements about him ranged from "half-truths" to "outright lies."

Desronvil's insistence that he never had doubt could complicate the defense's effort to block a retrial. According to WCVB, retired Massachusetts District Court Judge James Barretto said the disclosure "doesn't really help" defense attorney Kevin Reddington, who would be better positioned if there were a clear indication of juror misconduct. Reddington has recruited Boston attorney Martin Weinberg — who fought the double-jeopardy motion in Karen Read's case — to argue at a September 29 hearing that the mistrial circumstances should bar a second prosecution. According to Mamamia, Weinberg will argue the holdout refused to follow the judge's reasonable-doubt instructions.

Prosecutors maintained she planned the killings and knew what she was doing. The Blast reports that through Marcel, Desronvil pointed to Clancy sending her then-husband Patrick on errands before the deaths as evidence of planning. Fellow juror Nick Dargie criticized Desronvil for demonstrating strangulation with an exercise band tied around an empty water bottle, a moment Dargie called "shocking."

The mistrial has drawn unusual public commentary. Judge Judy Sheindlin told TMZ there is a "real danger" in prosecutors declining to retry Clancy, saying, "There's no question, my dear, that she killed her children. The only question is, is there an excuse for it?" She called Rep. Nancy Mace's call for public execution "ridiculous." Meanwhile, Clancy's ex-husband Patrick Clancy and his wife Dr. Rachel Danis are set to speak publicly for the first time on "60 Minutes," addressing their grief and, per CBS News, the baseless conspiracy theories that flooded social media after the trial.

Prosecutors have not announced whether they will retry Clancy, who remains held at Tewksbury Hospital on the same murder charges. Reddington has filed a motion to drop the charges, and per Fox News, said that if the top charge were reduced to second-degree murder he would opt for a bench trial in hopes of probation. Desronvil's attorney says there will be "a time for accountability and a time for the real story of the Lindsay Clancy Trial to be told. But not right now."
