Druski hosts 'Saturday Night Live' on Nov. 7 with the Strokes, becoming the first digital content creator to host in the show's 52 seasons.
From Instagram Sketches to Studio 8H
Drew Desbordes, the 32-year-old comedian known as Druski, takes the 'Saturday Night Live' stage tonight with the Strokes as musical guest, and both Yahoo and Lohud confirm he is the first digital content creator to host in the show's 52 seasons.
According to Yahoo, he grew up in Gwinnett County, Georgia, and started posting Instagram sketches in 2017, playing characters like a frat brother named Kyle Rogger and an overzealous airport security agent.
He now counts roughly 13.6 million Instagram followers, 15.6 million on TikTok and more than 6 million YouTube subscribers — and he announced the gig with a simple 'GET YOUR POPCORN READY' to fans.
The Druski Promos Fans Are Already Quoting
The pre-hosting buzz centers on the promo bits themselves. Yahoo reports that in one promo, Druski tells cast member Marcello Hernandez he'll be hosting 'the last-ever episode of SNL,' then whispers his plan in Hernandez's ear — prompting Hernandez to ask, 'You're gonna wear it?
And you're gonna do the voice?' before Druski insists, 'Trust me. That's what they like.'
According to Yahoo, CBR said the bit appeared to reference his 'conservative women' sketch, which many viewers took as aimed at Erika Kirk and which drew more than 184 million views on X per The Independent.
Yahoo also notes he joked with Sarah Sherman and the Strokes about taking over as musical guest, then mimed a guitar solo.
Why the Booking Turned Head
TVLine says the choice 'initially seemed out of the blue' because Druski didn't have major projects lined up — until Monday, when Netflix announced a partnership on 'Collect & Praise,' based on his megachurch pastor character, debuting in December.
Yahoo reports his rise ran through hip-hop: he appeared in 2020 music videos for Drake, Lil Yachty and Jack Harlow, opened for J. Cole and 21 Savage, and built 'Coulda Been Records,' a parody label from Instagram Live that grew into a YouTube show and the Coulda Fest arena tour.
According to Yahoo, streaming services passed on his early ideas, so he founded 4Lifers Entertainment and made them himself; earlier this year he became the youngest person to host the BET Awards, per USA Today.
What's Next: Mulaney, a Netflix Debut and a Landmark Episode
The stakes go beyond one night: a digital-native comedian crossing onto legacy sketch TV signals where SNL is scouting talent, and TVLine predicts he's 'bound to bring up' the Netflix deal on air, with fans wondering whether he'll reprise characters like Kyle Rogger.
The schedule ahead is crowded — Yahoo and Lohud both report John Mulaney hosts next week with Phoebe Bridgers as musical guest, while Lohud lists the Strokes' fifth SNL appearance on a world tour supporting their July 2026 album 'Reality Awaits,' which TVLine notes could use the boost.
The episode airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and streams on Peacock.
