Page Six and Rolling Stone report Dolly Parton's nephew allegedly sent profane emails days before her death, as her estate claims he evaded service.

What Happened

Court filings published this week describe an escalating legal fight between the estate of Dolly Parton and her nephew Bryan Seaver, the former head of security who announced her August 25 death on her Instagram. According to Page Six, Seaver allegedly fired off an expletive-filled email in a chain titled "Fwd: Letter from Dolly" on August 21 — four days before the singer died at 80. The heavily redacted chain was reportedly forwarded among members of Parton's team, including her longtime manager Danny Nozell, and appeared to concern security at her Nashville properties. Rolling Stone and ABC News report the estate's company, She's Alive LLC, is suing Seaver over an alleged "campaign of threats" to extract money.

Why It's Surprising

The alleged hostility stands in stark contrast to Seaver's public role: he is the relative who told the world Parton had died, in a video that drew millions of reactions. According to Page Six, the August 21 email allegedly included lines like "let's do legal violence you f–king worthless skinny fat nerd" and ended "Go f–k yourself you f–k." Rolling Stone adds that a judge cited messages pairing "threats with demands for payment," including one where Seaver allegedly wrote, "I'm literally an international arms dealer and mercenary." Seaver told TMZ nothing in the lawsuit were threats and that the messages were two men grieving.

The Barbed Wire Evidence

The most vivid allegation is physical, not verbal. Rolling Stone reports the estate filed a photo showing barbed wire draped across the handrails of the five-step porch at Seaver's residence, tagged with yellow caution tape and surrounded by pumpkins, alongside a no-trespassing sign. Lawyers for She's Alive LLC allege a process server made three failed attempts to deliver the lawsuit, once observing four cars in the driveway with no answer at the door. "Mr. Seaver attempted to evade service of process, and this court should not reward that behavior," the filing states, per ABC News.

What's at Stake

Parton left behind a $450 million estate, including Dollywood, managed by She's Alive LLC, and the dispute now touches both her business empire and Seaver's inheritance. Page Six reports Nozell fired Seaver as head of security and obtained a restraining order, alleging Seaver invoked "his self-proclaimed military-contractor experience, access to weapons, and capacity for violence" to demand money, and that staffers stopped going into the office over alleged threatening texts. According to Rolling Stone, Seaver was removed from his security role on September 15, but the letter stated his separate interest as a trust beneficiary was unaffected.

What Comes Next

The case moves fast. Rolling Stone reports a hearing is set for Friday, October 9, unless the court grants Seaver more time to hire an attorney, and that the estate asked a judge Monday to convert the temporary restraining order into a longer-lasting temporary injunction against both Seaver and his company, Squadron Augmented Protection Services. Seaver's security company allegedly missed the October 2 deadline to challenge the order. Judge Chancellor I'Ashea L. Myles had ordered Seaver to stay 1,000 feet from estate employees and off estate-controlled property. Seaver told ABC News by email that the restraining order prevents him from speaking publicly about the case.
