'Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' star Jen Affleck filed for divorce from Zac Affleck in Utah on Nov. 3 while pregnant with their fourth child.
The filing
Jennifer Affleck, the 27-year-old star of Hulu's 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,' filed a petition for divorce from her husband Zac Affleck on Tuesday, Nov. 3, in a Utah court, according to court records obtained by USA TODAY.
TMZ reports she also submitted a proposed parenting plan, though the details of the filing are private.
A family in transition
The couple met on the Mormon dating app Mutual in 2018, got engaged the following year and married in June 2019, per TMZ.
They share three children — Nora, Luca and Penelope — and Jen is pregnant with their fourth, a pregnancy she announced in June, less than a year after welcoming her youngest, USA TODAY reports. E!
News counts the marriage at seven years and the relationship at eight, and notes the family recently relocated from Utah to Southern California, where Jen is set to star in the upcoming spinoff 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County,' premiering November 12.
Struggles that played out on camera
The Afflecks' marital troubles have been a running storyline since the series debuted in 2024, USA TODAY notes: Season 1 put their conflicts on display, the pair separated, and the show then followed Jen through the split and their eventual reconciliation — followed by a third-pregnancy announcement that surprised many fans.
TMZ reports Jen later admitted the couple entered filming in a 'rocky place' and worked through issues in therapy, something she said ultimately strengthened their bond. E!
News adds that Jen previously dismissed breakup rumors, telling the outlet in November 2025 that people 'will always have their opinions' without seeing what happens behind closed doors.
Why the timing is striking
The filing lands just weeks before a spinoff built around the couple. USA TODAY reports the new series will follow Jen and Zac as they settle into a new state and prepare for another baby, making the divorce petition a sharp reversal of the show's premise.
In August, Jen told People, per USA TODAY and E!
News, 'it's been a lot the past couple of months' but that she felt she was 'seeing the light at the end of the tunnel,' while also revealing she experienced prenatal depression during a difficult first trimester in which, she said, she 'wouldn't have survived' without Zac.
What comes next
News says it reached out to Jen's rep without a reply.
With the Orange County spinoff premiering November 12 and a fourth child on the way, the series — and the audience that has followed #MomTok's relationships since 2024 — will now document a very different chapter than the one the show had been set up to tell.
