According to Anime News Network, Wright Film announced on Sunday that Esu Omori's *Shiba Inu Rooms* (*Shiba-tsuki Bukken*) manga is getting a television anime, debuting in summer 2027 at TMS Entertainment.

The series stars Niina Nakabayashi as high schooler Kori Momose and Mutsumi Tamura as Mu, the Shiba Inu ghost haunting Kori's apartment. Osamu Yamasaki directs, with Rio — credited by ANN with *trapezium* and *Sorcerous Stabber Orphen -Chaos in Urbanrama-* — designing the characters.

Omori marked the news with a commemorative illustration.

ANN reports the timing was no accident: the staff said the anime was announced on Sunday because November 1 is 'Wan Wan Wan Day' in Japan — 'wan' being the sound of a dog barking.

The choice fits a series whose premise, as Viz Media describes it via ANN, hinges on a canine haunting: after moving in, Kori discovers her apartment is shared with Mu, a Shiba Inu ghost, and the two are 'like fire and ice' at odds.

Whether the reluctant roommates can co-exist — and even become friends — is the story's engine.

The pick stands out in a 2027 slate that CBR describes as packed with heavy hitters — a grittier *Frieren* Season 3, *Kagurabachi* in April 2027, MAPPA's *Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc*, WIT Studio's *One Piece* remake on Netflix, and the *Lord of Mysteries* second season.

CBR's framing of 2027 as one of the most captivating anime years in a while makes the fresh title's slot all the more notable.

Anime News Network traces the manga's path: it launched as a one-shot in 2023, then began serialization on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ in June 2024, with the ninth volume arriving November 4.

English readers have two routes — Viz Media, which licensed the manga digitally in January 2025 and announced a print edition in February 2026, shipped its first volume September 1, and the series also runs digitally on the MANGA Plus app.
