Vanessa Trump announced in a video with daughter Kai that recent tests came back clear, six months after an April breast cancer diagnosis.

What Happened: The Announcement

Vanessa Trump, the 48-year-old ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., revealed Friday that she is cancer-free after beginning treatment for breast cancer earlier this year.

In a 30-second Instagram video shared by her 19-year-old daughter Kai Trump, she said her recent testing results "came back clear, so I'm finally cancer free." The clip shows the pair sharing a warm hug after the announcement.

It was released during Breast Cancer Awareness Month as a teaser for a longer conversation.

A Six-Month Journey From Diagnosis

The announcement caps a rapid arc: Vanessa Trump was diagnosed in April and first shared the news publicly on Instagram on May 20, writing that she was working closely with her medical team on a treatment plan and had undergone a procedure that week.

Per Newsweek, she wrote that she was "staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family."

The development itself is a video: Kai Trump's Instagram clip introduces her mother's story for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with Kai explaining, "My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, so we thought we would share her story and how she was diagnosed and how she overcame it."

A longer video is slated for release Saturday on Kai's YouTube channel, featuring Kai sitting down with her mother and Dr. Nicole Saphier to discuss prevention and early detection.

Why It Resonates in Awareness Month

Kai Trump wrote in the caption that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, "a time to raise awareness about early detection, education, and support for those affected by breast cancer."

Dr. Nicole Saphier noted in the video that "when it comes to breast cancer, it's not one size fits all. It feels different for everyone."

NBC News reports that breast cancer rates for women under 50 have risen faster than rates for older women in recent years, prompting recommended screening ages to drop from 50 to 40, and that about 16% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are under 50, per the American Cancer Society.

Support From Family and Tiger Woods

The diagnosis drew an outpouring of support, including from Ivanka Trump, who commented, "Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama."

According to Page Six, a source said Vanessa's boyfriend, golfer Tiger Woods, had "been very supportive of Vanessa through all this" and was "proud of how positive she's stayed."

Vanessa was married to Donald Trump Jr. from 2005 to 2018 and shares five children with him: Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe.

What Comes Next

A longer conversation featuring Vanessa, Kai, and Dr. Saphier will be released Saturday on YouTube, where Kai invited followers to "learn how we can take proactive steps toward our health."

Newsweek notes breast cancer remains the most common cancer among U.S. women aside from skin cancers, accounting for about 1 in 3 new cancer diagnoses in women each year, and that about 1 in 8 women will develop it in their lifetime.

Cedars-Sinai oncologists cited by Newsweek say 3D mammography and tumor genetic testing are making detection and treatment increasingly personalized.
