MTV reality alum Anika Rashaun has died at 34, seven months after her Valentine's Day wedding and a year after a stage four breast cancer diagnosis.

An MTV Life Cut Short at 34

Anika Rashaun, who made her name on MTV's 'The Real World: Bad Blood' in 2016 and 'The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions' the following year, has died at 34.

According to Us Weekly, her friend Cyndi Rich revealed the news on Facebook on October 22 — which would have been Rashaun's 35th birthday — writing that she 'transitioned on October 1.'

Us Weekly reports she had been diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in summer 2025, and The Daily Beast notes she was told the diagnosis came roughly a year before her death. A cause of death has not been publicly shared.

Married in February, Gone by October

What makes the loss especially poignant is how recently Rashaun's life had seemed to open up.

The Daily Beast reports she married Kyle Walker-Rehn in San Marcos, California on Valentine's Day, just seven months before her death, and told Instagram followers two weeks later that 'the day was literally a dream filled with the best moments.'

According to Us Weekly, she is survived by her husband, her parents and her brother. Both outlets frame the tributes around the contrast between a devoted marriage and a battle she fought privately.

Friends Say She Was 'Unapologetically Herself'

The tributes paint a vivid portrait. The Daily Beast cites friend Tiara Ramos calling Rashaun persuasive, 'fiercely loyal' and 'always so unapologetically herself.'

Us Weekly quotes Rich remembering four-hour phone calls and a friend who was 'meeting everyone she could, traveling (but also living) across the world' while juggling multiple jobs.

According to Us Weekly, Ramos also wrote in a Substack essay that despite Rashaun's mother having breast cancer years earlier, she was never identified as high-risk or told to prioritize mammograms — a medical-system failure Ramos says Rashaun experienced repeatedly during her battle.

A Challenge Family Mourns

Rashaun's death lands in a difficult year for the Challenge community. Us Weekly notes former winner Tyler Duckworth also died in August 2026, part of a broader wave of celebrity losses the magazine catalogs.

After reality TV, Rashaun worked as a dating coach and matchmaker and sold an ebook on modern fairy tales, per The Daily Beast.

For fans who followed her from 'The Real World: Bad Blood' through 'Invasion of the Champions,' the tributes from Ramos and Rich suggest a vivid, fully lived 16 years of friendship — remembered, as Rich put it, as a 'vibrant soul' whose light those close to her counted a blessing.
