Bustle: Beaded Brows and White Lashes Take Over LFW
By @sharedot · · 6 pages
Bustle reports London Fashion Week's Spring/Summer 2027 shows revived maximalist beauty, from Simone Rocha's beaded brows to ghost-white lashes.
What the runways showed
According to Bustle, London Fashion Week's Spring/Summer 2027 shows delivered a maximalist beauty counterpoint to New York's party-girl hair and crimp revival. Makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver created intricately beaded floral brows at Simone Rocha using Byredo and Dr. Barbara Sturm products, while Sofia Tilbury, Charlotte Tilbury's Global Artistry Director, built two iridescent blush looks — layered pink and purple — for Harris Reed's "Loud Whispers" presentation.
Unexpected color at the eyes
Bustle notes that stark white made an unexpected mark at the shows. At Mulberry — the house where Christopher Kane staged his creative-director debut a day earlier — makeup artist Lucia Pieroni applied vibrant white eyeliner, while at INFDark, Mandy Gakhal took the idea further with white eyeshadow and what Bustle calls literal ghost-white lashes. Per Bustle, white eye makeup may sound innocent, but on these runways it was anything but.
Messy hair, retro buns
Hair at the shows, Bustle reports, ran from deliberately undone to decidedly retro. At Erdem, hairstylist Eugene Souleiman — Kevin Murphy's global professional ambassador — created loose messy fishtail braids that embraced frizz, and at Susan Fang, Anna Cofone used Authentic Beauty Concept products for deconstructed braids, some wrapped and others sculptural. At Richard Quinn, stylist Mustafa Yanaz paired slicked-back buns with a swoop of micro fringe, held with L'Oréal Professionnel's Flex Pli spray.
Why it matters
Bustle frames the week as proof that the maximalist movement is far from over, with designers leaning into daring, colorful, whimsical beauty across the pond. The timing is notable: Grazia's September roundup separately reports a wave of beauty launches arriving during fashion month, including Max Mara's first fragrance, unveiled in Venice with campaign face Florence Pugh, and Lara Worthington's OMMAGE makeup line hitting the market on September 29 — suggesting runway boldness and retail ambition are moving together this season.
