Macklemore opened his Free Palestine tour at Dublin's 3Arena, pledging all proceeds to Palestinian causes after leaving Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour.

A Sold-Out Dublin Kickoff

The rapper announced the European run just days after being removed from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour following pro-Palestinian comments he made onstage, and he had promised fans "many incredible surprise guests" hours before doors opened.

The BBC says he has pledged to donate proceeds from the tour to organisations supporting Palestinians, with Paris and London dates to follow.

Why the Axing Shocked Fans

Yahoo News reports the Israeli-American Council petitioned over the performance and Macklemore was removed from the tour on 14 September, with promoter Messina Touring Group confirming the decision.

What surprised fans was the solidarity wave: outlets including 7NEWS report Sheeran's other support acts and his house band withdrew from remaining US dates in solidarity with Macklemore.

Red Rocks: The First Return

Before Dublin, International Business Times UK reports Macklemore returned to the stage at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre on 22 October, his first concert since the fallout, running a 17-song set that included 'Hind's Hall' and 'Hind's Hall 2.'

According to 7NEWS, Australian singer Tones And I joined him there and called it an "honour" on Instagram, and she was set to appear at the Dublin show on 26 October. "Being a human being in this moment is not complicated," he told the crowd, per IBTimes.

"It is not political. It is human to have a heart, to watch others suffering and to say, 'Not anymore!'"

The performance circulating online matters because it shows Macklemore refusing to soften the message that cost him the stadium tour.

Footage shared by outlets shows him pausing the show to call for a "free Palestine," then extending it to Congo, Lebanon, Haiti and people affected by ICE in America, before telling the crowd, "The message will always be love."

IBTimes UK notes footage of the performance circulated online with sections of the crowd appearing to support his remarks — evidence that the removal from Sheeran's tour did not silence the platform he built around it.

Antonoff's Attack and Sheeran's Silence

The fallout drew a sharp new intervention this week: Yahoo News reports Jack Antonoff, in a Guardian interview, slammed Sheeran's response as siding with promoters and billionaires, saying Sheeran "missed a massive, beautiful opportunity" to cancel the tour and play for free outside each venue instead.

"So stand the f–k up," Antonoff added. Sheeran had said the removal was the promoter's decision and that he would not let down fans or crew, while Macklemore wrote that he "didn't need 10 shows from Ed. I needed two" — chances to say words that "somehow became too dangerous to say," per Yahoo News.

Stakes, Money and What Comes Next

The stakes now run through money and momentum.

According to IBTimes UK, Macklemore pledged $1 million of his net tour earnings to six organisations supporting Palestinians and challenged Kraft Group owner Robert Kraft to match it; Kraft later said Sheeran asked him to commit $2 million, and the two pledged a combined $4 million, though Kraft did not name recipients.

Dublin's demand suggests the controversy has enlarged, not shrunk, his audience: the BBC quotes one attendee saying all ten Dublin shows would have been filled. Next stop: Paris on 29 October, then London on 30 October, per IBTimes.
