Crunchyroll and Aniplex have announced a theatrical anime film, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, continuing the saga directly after Season 2.

A Big-Screen Continuation, Not a Third Season

According to FilmInk, Crunchyroll and Aniplex announced that a theatrical feature film titled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System is now in production.

Rather than announcing a third season, the publishers describe the film as a direct continuation of the series, picking up following the events of Season 2, which was subtitled Arise from the Shadows.

Alongside the announcement, Crunchyroll and Aniplex revealed the film's English title and debuted a new teaser key visual — the first concrete look fans have at the project.

No additional details about the film, including a release date or plot specifics, have been revealed so far, leaving the door open for further announcements as production progresses.

A Heavyweight Co-Production Lineup

FilmInk reports that Beyond the System is being animated by acclaimed studio A-1 Pictures, the team behind Sword Art Online, which has carried the Solo Leveling adaptation through its two previous seasons.

The production slate is unusually crowded for an anime feature: the film is produced by Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao Piccoma, and Crunchyroll, with Crunchyroll co-producing the theatrical feature.

That lineup reflects how the property spans multiple media — it began as a Korean web novel and webtoon and now sits at the center of games, publishing, and streaming.

The involvement of Netmarble and Kakao Piccoma alongside the anime's usual publishers signals that all sides of the franchise are behind the big-screen push.

A Webtoon Phenomenon Reaching the Screen

The source material behind the film is one of the most-read stories of its format. According to FilmInk, Solo Leveling is the globally popular Korean novel and webtoon series created by Chugong, illustrated by DUBU (REDICE STUDIO), and adapted by h-goon, published by D&C MEDIA.

The publisher notes the series has exceeded 650 million page views on Japan's digital manga and novel platform Piccoma — a figure that underscores how large the franchise's audience has become since its anime adaptation arrived.

The story follows Sung Jinwoo, the lowest-ranked Hunter in a world of Gates connecting dimensions, who is regarded as the weakest weapon of mankind until he gains the unique ability to level up, rising from the weakest to become the strongest.

The first two seasons are currently available on Crunchyroll.

Where Anime Adaptations Are Heading Next

The Solo Leveling film announcement lands in a busy stretch for anime and game adaptations.

ABC News reports that a Kingdom Hearts anime series was greenlit for Disney Channel and Disney+ at D23, developed with Square Enix's creative team working closely with Tetsuya Nomura, with the game series having shipped over 39 million units worldwide.

Meanwhile, ABC News also notes that the fourth Kingdom Hearts game is due in late 2027 and will feature a world based on Pixar's Coco, with actor Benjamin Bratt voicing Ernesto de la Cruz.

Together, these projects show publishers treating anime and Japanese-adjacent animation as the mainstream way to extend beloved franchises — and for Solo Leveling fans, the film format suggests the next chapter is being built as a feature-scale event rather than a weekly season.
