JYP Entertainment's shares soared 10% after reports that Japan's Nexroc Group and SVCV plan a tender offer for up to 50% of the K-pop agency.

A 10% Surge on a Half-Billion-Dollar Bid

JYP Entertainment's shares jumped 10 per cent on Tuesday after Korean media reported that Japan's Nexroc Group and related firm SVCV Inc were planning to announce a tender offer to buy up to a 50 per cent stake in the company.

According to CNA, carrying Reuters reporting, the 50 per cent stake would be worth about 700 billion won, or roughly $528.04 million, based on JYP's current market capitalisation. The reports landed on October 27, 2026, and sent the stock soaring in Seoul trading the same morning.

The move marks one of the sharpest single-day reactions for a major K-pop agency this cycle, and it immediately put one of the industry's founding labels at the centre of a potential ownership battle fans and investors alike are now watching closely.

A 30% Premium and an Unusual Pre-Announcement

CNA reports that Nexroc and SVCV said in a press release they are targeting between 25 per cent and 50 per cent of JYP's issued shares, with a tender offer price set at a 30 per cent premium to a benchmark share price, as reported by Yonhap News Agency and other outlets.

What makes the move unusual, according to CNA, is its structure: the companies issued what it calls a 'pre-tender offer announcement' before securing full financial backing.

Independent analyst Douglas Kim, who writes on Smartkarma, told CNA that the pre-announcement 'is not typical and could be made illegal by the Korean financial authorities.'

Kim warned that allowing such a pre-tender offer 'could set a bad precedent in the Korean equity markets,' adding that a company has to launch a tender offer only when it has enough financial backing or assets to do so.

JYP, for its part, said it has not received a tender offer, while Nexroc Group was not immediately available to comment.

What a Nexroc Takeover Would Mean for TWICE, Stray Kids and ITZY

JYP Entertainment, founded by singer-songwriter and producer Park Jin-young, known as J.Y. Park, is one of South Korea's leading K-pop entertainment companies.

CNA notes its main artists include popular groups such as TWICE, Stray Kids, ITZY and DAY6 — rosters that anchor the label's global touring and streaming business.

A successful tender offer for up to half the company would place a Japanese buyer group with unprecedented influence over a foundation label of the K-pop model, a scenario fans would likely debate intensely given the agency's artist lineup and creative identity.

Nothing is settled yet: the bid exists so far as reported plans and a press release, not a completed offer.

Regulators, Precedent and What Comes Next

The next chapter hinges on whether the pre-tender announcement survives scrutiny from Korean financial authorities.

CNA's reporting quotes analyst Douglas Kim suggesting regulators could deem the arrangement illegal, which would be a striking outcome for a deal that briefly added roughly a tenth of JYP's market value in a single session.

Investors now face a two-sided question: whether Nexroc Group and SVCV can demonstrate the financial backing Kim says a bidder must have before launching a tender offer, and whether JYP's management, which says it has not received any offer, would engage with one at all.

With Nexroc Group not immediately available for comment, the company has not publicly answered those questions.
