Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Feb. 14, 2027, per announcements from the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation.

The news was made official during Monday Night Football on Oct. 26, after days of speculation that the rapper had reportedly chosen himself for the slot.

Billboard reports the reveal followed a tease soundtracked by 'Public Service Announcement (Interlude)' from The Black Album, with the caption 'GOAT's out of the bag' — a nod to Jay-Z sitting in stadium seats surrounded by goats in the black-and-white announcement clip.

The announcement video is a striking black-and-white clip of Jay-Z in a New York Yankees cap and hoodie, seated in a football stadium as the famous opening bars of 'Public Service Announcement (Interlude)' play: 'Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name HOV — H to the O-V.'

As the camera pulls back, several goats are revealed around him, a playful nod to the GOAT acronym. Purewow reports a second post simply read 'Super Bowl LXI.

The teaser spread through Apple Music, ESPN, SportsCenter, NFL and Roc Nation channels after ESPN teased a 'special announcement' heading into halftime of Monday Night Football.

The most striking detail, per Revolt TV and Complex, is that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said booking Jay-Z was long the plan.

'When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,' Goodell said in a statement.

That is a full reversal from 2019, when — according to CBS News — Jay-Z told Goodell, 'If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now.' Seven years later, the man who produces the show is its headliner.

In a statement shared by the NFL, Jay-Z framed the booking as the culmination of three decades in the culture. 'From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,' he said.

'Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.'

Complex notes the announcement came just days after the JAŸ-Z30 Tour, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint, closed with two SoFi Stadium shows featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Too $hort — at the very stadium that will host the Super Bowl.

Jay-Z has shaped the halftime show through Roc Nation since the NFL partnership began in 2019, curating lineups including The Weeknd, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.

Billboard reports he has earned six consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations as an executive producer, winning twice — for the 2022 all-star hip-hop show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent, and for this year's Bad Bunny show — plus a 2023 Emmy for co-directing Rihanna's show.
